All of a sudden, their faces were so close together that Shay could see all the little individual flakes of black mascara that had settled on her cheekbones. Maybe it was a side effect of the low light, but it seemed like Megan was staring at her with a strange, fervent look in her eyes. You could cut the tension between them with a knife.

Megan let out a low whisper, “Do you want to make out with me, Shay?”

Shay was perfectly happy with her life. Well, maybe she wouldn't go so far as to say happy, but she was certainly content. She'd go to school, hang out with her friends, go to band practice, do all her homework, and try to ignore Megan. Rinse and repeat. That is, until one eventful Saturday night throws her perfectly ordered world into disarray.
