How do you say “I love you”?

I say “I love you” differently when I’m around different people.

When I’m around my friends, I throw “I love you” around like a Frisbee that each of them will catch in their own time. No rush. But they know it’s there when they are ready to catch it.

When I’m with my family, I say “I love you” like I’m standing in an empty amphitheater. I shout it out and it reverberates off the walls until it hits every seat in the theater.

When I’m talking to myself, though, my “I love you” must get lost in translation. I say it but I don’t believe it. I say it but I can’t hear it. I write it on every wall in my room and then turn the lights off. I put on headphones, blaring music and then whisper my “I love you.”
