outer space: could they survive in a sci-fi setting? thrive, even?

Quilliam: He’s like a tardigrade: he can be cute and cuddly and green in all conditions including the empty void of space. If he were shot into space I think he’d be interested in extraterrestrial medicine still. So much exciting new anatomy to learn about and biology to study and he’d do it with the enthusiasm of a thousand suns.

Tanya: I’ve been ruminating on this for like 2 days now but honestly I think she has the resilience and chutzpah to make it in space. I imagine her being good at figuring out Space Weapons. Also she might be a bit disoriented by zero gravity at first and her inability to make it bend to her will will make her grumpy but eventually she’d use it as a leverage in fights.

Leona: If she were shot into space she would turn to bounty hunting among more scandalous things: She’d want to rack up money to get a ship so she has more options and doesn’t have to rely on the “kindnesses” of more powerful people. And of course she’d band together a ragtag space pirate crew.

Oooooo character solidifying, 19 for Doozy

19. What were your character’s deepest disillusions? In life? What are they now?

I don’t think Doozy expected to find a job acting and singing to be so difficult. 

Doozy comes from a family that is very Not Showbiz (butchers that live in a rural area) and she basically ran off to NYC to pursue her acting dreams. She's someone who has done a ton of research on the business in her spare time, and thought she knew all she needed to about the industry, but reading about something is completely different from experiencing it. She fully thought that her ability to act and sing would be able to carry her to live broadway stages, but it ended up being… a lot harder than that. 

I think she was really depressed for a bit when she discovered that she couldn’t just audition and get in like she used to, but in order to distract herself she just KEPT!!!! AUDITIONING EVERYWHERE SHE COULD in between working minimum wage jobs elsewhere. She had been in local plays and whatnot back home enough times that it seemed like being given a role would come naturally, but in NYC she is less of a big fish in a small pond and more of a big minnow in a massive ocean. I think that’s when she started turning more to voice acting jobs to see if she could get anything, and she was lucky enough to come across Mayhem Studio and audition. She eventually got the role of Alice, her first serious acting job, which she is over the moon about now. 

I think her current deepest disillusion is that no matter how hard she tries, no matter the leads she gets and the research she does, she can’t seem to help the people she cares about most.

9: A song you wish didn’t remind you of Sammy, but it does. LMAO SO LIKE I DONT THINK!!! I TEND TO FEEL THIS WAY ABOUT SONGS Often the way that my brain works is like me: [finds song] me: [realizes it works with character] me: YESSSS!!! YESSSSAAAAAAAA Update from the future: I scoured Spotify for forever and I literally couldn't think of a single song I am SO SORRY IF THIS IS A DISAPPOINTING ANSWER LKDFJSDLF

TLDR I usually am only sad when songs don't remind me of any characters, not the other way around.

For the Fandom Meme, gotta ask T: "Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending"?

"Die defending" is a weird one because I feel like I'm not capable of being that adamant that a headcanon is so canon that I'll fight over it? Especially given that I often follow multiple conflicting sets of headcanons are once - for me, I'm not really looking to find THE PERFECT TRUTH so much as explore interesting interpretations and ideas.

That being said, the one that comes to mind as being... adjacent to this idea is probably the idea that Jack Fain isn't a pushover? I understand why that interpretation exists of him, especially given his audio logs - but I always felt like it seemed strange that Jack would've been so positive (or at least non-negative) about Sammy, known YELLING MAN, if he didn't at least somewhat like the guy rather than just working for him because he was scared and a pushover...?

TIOL somewhat canonised my headcanons there (though you could still interpret it differently), but Jack there definitely seems to be more confident and not so much of a pushover. (Which - the book came out pretty recently compared to the other Jack info we have, so it also makes sense that people's pre-existing interpretations aren't gonna include that haha. But I'm glad it has some more canon basis!)

Anyway big fan of a Jack who maybe will go along with some things but isn't an entire coward who won't stand up for himself.
