lowkey was not dialed in for the end of rg so didnt see 90% of the discourse around aryna's press con until later but it is interesting to me that so many people are taking what she said to be purposeful discrediting coco when in reality i think aryna is just a player who spent most of her formative years with her entire playstyle being defined by how many errors she made and for a long time her biggest rival/threat was someone who was praised for being clinical/precise etc. and you wonder why she said 'if iga was playing in this match she would have won it'...like to be clear it was still not the right thing to say and blatantly disrespectful to coco and also not really true but i really dont think aryna was coming at it from the perspective of "coco didnt play that well i just played worse" but rather "i played bad and someone like iga would never have let this match slip"...like this is the second time she's lost a gs final to coco from a set up so naturally she's going to feel like she's orchestrated her own downfall...
