"I told her not to mark and then my girlfriend left me."

dianna checked on the potato skins nervously. this was not the plan. the plan had always been for her to make things right with theo and move on, rekindle their friendship, stay out of trouble. and now, she had invited him over to her house (the first time since their childhood he would be stepping into this home) to break the news that she had maybe, somehow, hopefully, been involved with ezra. her own text weighted on her chest, making it heart to breathe. i'd argue that if people care about you they'll let you know when they are involved with someone you care about. she knew that what she had done was in no way comparable, in reality, she had barely even done anything. but she still felt like she had to tell theo the truth. she just hoped this would not mean two more years without him. the doorbell rang and dianna sprang to action. she took out the potato skins, turned off the oven, took off her apron and walked to the door so she could welcome theo with a smile, desperately wishing this wouldn’t be the last time. “hey you,” dianna said warmly as she let him in. “just in time, potato skins are ready.”
