“sometimes when you do stuff like that, it can be kinda creepy.” ambrose joked lightly as he took the strings from her hands, definitely excited to have something that would keep him busy for a few hours when he left the store. he was one of those people that could barely stand still for too long, so it made perfect sense he’d chose a job where his brain was always working overtime and his fingers were too. he turned around to put the strings in his backpack when she called out his name, making his turn back around to face. “what—di, oh my god.” he set the guitar down on the couch carefully, incredibly surprised. “di, you didn’t have to. seriously.” it meant a lot to him, but it was also so unexpected. he didn’t keep people around long enough to do things like this one for him, not most people, really. there were a few exceptions, but it was still unexpected. “thank you. i love it.” he whispered as he let fingers trace the engraving carefully.
“i thought you liked creepy,” dianna joked back with a wink. after everything the two had been through together, and especially after the eight years that had passed since they last saw each other, dianna was glad to see the two of them were still in sync with each other. the guitar had been a hit, but she still was nervous to show him the last part of her gift, and so she relaxed at his reaction. “i wanted to. i want you to have at least some good memories of this place, when you are out there making incredible art and changing the music world one video at a time,” dianna said warmly. she knew that just because she had found a permanent home in lake wisteria, the town was not a perfect fit for everybody else. even people she loved. so she was glad ambrose could take a little bit of her with him wherever he went. “i’m so glad you like it.”
