thinking about the way mags retreated inside herself to survive and used the fawn response in many ways, but even once she’s free she doesn’t know how to let go of that.  even around people who aren’t a threat,  she wraps herself up in this exterior of being soft, affectionate and oblivious to avoid further scrutiny of what’s beneath it.  not that her actions are fake.  because she is genuine in her words and affection,  but that doesn’t mean it isn’t used to hide parts of herself.  and i think she even will gravitate towards people who have their own issues and emotional intimacy problems because they’ll be less likely to try to dig deeper with her.
