What if Mikasa is only slightly older than Eren by a few years, and they’ve known each other all their lives

Oh, you've found one of my weaknesses. I like when a young man chases after an older woman and I think that's exactly how this would go. Mikasa sees Eren as just her younger neighbor while he's enamored with her because she's so mature and beautiful. Let's say there's three years age difference? That way when she graduates high school he's still only 15 and in her eyes he's this lovable scamp who used to follow her around everywhere while to him she's a grown up woman and the picture of perfection. They're close enough in age that she doesn't see him as a child, but he does still seem immature to her so she doesn't take him seriously.

She goes away for school and their families aren't particularly close so she only sees him in passing when she's home on breaks. She notices he's getting pretty good looking but she doesn't think much of it. She's got college boys on her radar. Then, when she gets a job near home after school, he's away at college and she's got her own place, so it's not until he also moves back after school that they run into each other at a summer block party their parents invite them both to. Mikasa is speechless to see that Eren is no longer the teenage ragamuffin she remembered, and she's flustered when he starts flirting with her like the grown ass man he is. When did he get so tall and confident? Why is she so into it? He's making her giggle and feel so silly.

Meanwhile, this is what Eren has been waiting his whole life for. He's been planning for the moment they saw each other again. Every time he makes her blush it's like a victory over his doofy former self. He asks her if she wants to go for a walk around the old neighborhood and they wind up at the playground and go on the swings together.

Eren says, "Do you remember making the swings kiss?"

Mikasa laughs and nods and rocks her swing sideways so her thigh bumps against Eren's. He does it back and they make the swings kiss a few times before he grabs the chain on her swing and pulls her over and kisses her for real. When they pull apart, she's breathless. He smiles and says, "I always had a crush on you."

She turns red and says, "Oh."

Eren grins at her. "I'm going to take you on a date."

"Okay," she says, twirling her hair without realizing it. What is happening? How did her buddy Eren from next door turn into this?

Almost like he can read her mind, he stands up and leans over her. "I'm all grown up, Mikasa, and I'm going to prove it to you."

Her heart is pounding in her chest and all she can say is, "Okay" again.
