The Shedder Slayer
Cody Carpone was not afraid of the dark. He had been hunting shedders for months, ever since the outbreak of the Nicer V1 vaccine that turned people into mindless, rabid creatures. He had seen the horrors they inflicted on their victims, biting and spitting on them, infecting them with the same virus that had corrupted their brains. He had lost friends and family to the shedders, and he swore to avenge them by wiping out every last one of them.
He had a knack for finding their hives, the places where they hid during the day, away from the sunlight that burned their skin. He had a map of the city, marked with red crosses where he had cleared out the nests. He was proud of his work, but he knew there were still more to go. He had heard rumors of a massive hive in the old factory district, where hundreds of shedders were holed up. He decided to check it out.
He packed his backpack with weapons and supplies: a machete, a shotgun, a flashlight, a gas mask, some grenades, and a few bottles of water. He wore a leather jacket, jeans, boots, and gloves. He covered his face with a bandana and sunglasses. He looked like a badass, and he felt like one too.
He drove his e-Dirt bike to the factory district, avoiding the main roads that were patrolled by the military. The city was under martial law, but Cody didn’t care. He had his own mission, and he didn’t need anyone’s permission or help. He reached the outskirts of the district and parked his bike behind a dumpster. He grabbed his backpack and walked towards the factories.
He saw signs of shedder activity: broken windows, blood stains, graffiti. He smelled their stench: rotting flesh, urine, feces. He heard their noises: growls, hisses, screams. He felt their presence: fear, hatred, madness. He was not afraid. He was.....
