It was so nice waiting for the children to get off the school bus today. Winter is slowly (slowly!) releasing its grip and the sun is returning. It was warm on my back, and my bones soaked it up happily. The paddocks are full of pregnant ewes dropping lambs, which always makes me inordinately happy. Their bright white freshness and frantically pinwheeling tails appear before the first buds do, harbingers of a spring almost sprung. Winter is a hard month. The June solstice comes and I'm grateful for a few more seconds of daylight each day, but realistically, it isn't until 6 weeks later when things noticeably improve. August is a time of returning sun, mixed with bitter frosts, and a rollercoaster of weather based emotions. I won't be warm through again for months yet, but it is what it is. Tasmania is beautiful, but where I live is cold, changeable and unpredictable. In the meantime, I will appreciate every scrap of sunlight I have, even as I twitch over my neglected gardens and my ever increasing to-do list. #tasmania #discovertasmania #winter #sunlight #sheepcountry
