TFIOS SPOILER ALERT I'm talking about the movie so...

Yeah I watched it!!! Perks of living in Mexico, and of course I loved it! It's obvious that I cried and a bunch of people are going to talk about that so I'll be the party pooper that's going to get serious. Here's the thing about books, one of the only bad things: we romanticize everything because we are giving the choice to, and between having realistic characters like the ones we meet every day or perfect ones, we go for perfect. I take it back, this isn't a bad thing, it's a human thing. The dilemma comes in when this amazing book that's lived inside your head and that got to be different and even better each time you read it, won't be like that in a movie. In a movie there's only one way things can go, you have more than a detailed description on a page. You have the whole image and people with a certain voice and face and way of being. They're representation of your characters is not going to be everything you imagined, that's impossible. One of the things that seemed to shock most people is Gus. He was obviously going to sound even more pretentious on screen since we couldn't soften that when we wanted to and stuff was going to be more real. We don't get the chance to romanticize the ugly. Ansel's face isn't pretty when he cries and his voice isn't like silk. Don't get me wrong, I find him ridiculously attractive, but he isn't going to be exactly like MY Augustus. I just don't want people getting mad about this. Haven't we been through enough adaptations to learn? The book and the movie are going to be related but in the end they're always going to be separate, two worlds we had the chance to visit. I think that the movie did a great justice to the book. It respected the story and it's characters and what they had to say. I'm happy and satisfied and I'm okay with it all. Okay?
