By 1966, the Shelby GT350 loses its Mustang emblems. For this year more colors are added to the range like blue, red, green and black. Other changes include new rear side windows that replace the 1965 model vents. The rear seat is offered as optional equipment. While the first 1965 models had the engine block painted in black, they were now painted in the regular dark blue. Equally new are the double exhaust outputs.
The 1966 production was 1,373 fastbacks, including two prototypes and four converted to dragsters, plus 252 copies with 1965 bodyworks. Four "experimental" convertibles were built to study the feasibility of this bodywork, which finally appeared as 1967 1/2, which Totals a production of 2,378 copies in that year.
