OH GOD OKAY to mix it up let's do a Misconceptions I Have Encountered In the Past 2+ Years But Never Necessarily Directly Cleared Up Because I Intended To Post Longfic And Then Didn't lightning round!!

🖊 actually not a herald! ( she would be heralding. you know. herself. ) similarly, she does not operate under any one region or with any one family member specifically; her chambers are at blackhorse peak, but this is a matter of space & convenience; her work is completely separate from john's, and the fact they're married has no bearing on their actual operations. her position as judge is its own separate entity in the project's hierarchy, referencing joseph's belief that she is the judge of revelation who will be the decider of the end. she is equitable to the heralds in influence only.

🖊 relatedly — and this is one that i believe i've clarified before, but since it's now been almost two years since i've posted about some lore, i'll reiterate it — lyra is also a fully participating and believing member of the project. she was always going to join; her relationship with john made exactly no difference ( aside from giving her cause to hold off joining until she found a way to prove her good faith, delivered helpfully over to her in the form of alex's documentary crew ). like nancy, she holds a role with an undercover aspect, and therefore retains the outward appearance of a civilian she poses as. it's for this reason that she retains her car and her clothing from her previous life, not any special exemption that is given to her for reason of importance or disbelief.

🖊 similarly, literally everything lyra owns is from her past life — she has not had a home, so to speak, since she was fifteen, so she is accustomed to taking her entire life with her everywhere she goes. everything she has in hope county that was hers is in the trunk of her car when she arrived; she has not changed her styling or aesthetic since girlhood. lyra is not rich, and has not been since she ran away. john has purchased exactly nothing for her, not only because she forbids material gifts — she hates them because of associations with lawrence's pretty bribes — but because i personally do not ascribe to the notion that the man has the budget for that prior to the apocalypse, his money is all going to that gaudy ranch and plane and enormous fucking joseph statue. he and lyra are both wearing the deteriorating designer labels of their past lives. sorry to this man

🖊 her sin is, in fact, wrath, worn in large lettering across her breasts at her own request. it has not been struck through because she does not believe she will have reached atonement until she sees her family safely to new eden; she will not strike it out until very shortly before her death, when she overcomes it by not taking revenge on the twins for the destruction of new eden and feels she has been purged of the rage that she has carried all her life. it's finished; she can die, now.

🖊 did not skip past the atonement process, however, though it was different for her because of her station; she asked john to carve the six sins that were not hers into her back and cut them from her. how could she judge others if she could not herself be cleansed with blood? she is many things, but she does not wish to count hypocrite among them.

🖊 is not fluent in french because isabela is french; isabela is italian, and never taught her daughter her tongue because she did not wish to hear it in that creature's mouth. lyra spent many of her younger years abroad, and always had a natural talent for languages, something which she did inherit from isabela, unbeknownst to the latter.

alma has a palomino pinto mare that she broke and trained at 19. she is a mustang that alma found wandering the west with a small herd, and alma tracked her for days before finally breaking her enough to take her back to the ranch. they've been together ever since. her name is gaia.

after having been a stablehand for six years, alma is used to cleaning and other chores and so helps out a lot at camp. ever since she joined she's been resistant to being kept at camp entirely though, and often accompanies the boys on scouting or hunting missions, as well as anything horse-related. she goes a bit stir crazy and also clashes with miss grimshaw something terrible (they actually both like each other a lot and alma respects the hell out of the woman, but they're personalities just tend to clash). alma doesn't like feeling caged or stagnant.

dutch calls her 'miss mcarthy' when he's frustrated with her. which was a lot, in the beginning. most of the gang just call her alma or mcarthy though.

alma's favoured weapon is her shotgun, but she's passable with most guns and knives. bows are something charles teaches her, and she takes a while to get the hang of it and the finesse required. charles is a good teacher though.

alma has a sibling-like relationship with arthur and john, as the trio spent their twenties finding themselves in the gang together and were fairly inseperable (alma and john are the same age). alma continues to tease john about the scar on his shoulder from where she grazed him with her shotgun when they first met. arthur always saw alma as a younger sister and is fiercely protective of her (as he is the whole gang).

her and sadie become fast friends, and spend a lot of time together around camp and on missions together.

for the oc ask game; I love that even the ocs that are in multiple universes always fit right into whatever they’re in, and I like seeing them pop up

sdlfjk i swear i wasn't ignoring this, tumblr just decided to not show that i had asks again

it's always so fun figuring out how everyone fits into the different universes! i'm still amazed that alice was so much easier than elizabeth to fit into cyberpunk, considering the og bee came from a very similar universe (though she very much screamed 'an 11 year old designed me!' sdkljf)

alice is just pure chaos, though, so that might help....
