What is Shell Scripting?

Does there exist a utility that takes a semi-interactive program that accepts line-based input, and turns it into a fully interactive session with modifiable handling for things like arrow keys, tab completion, command history, etc.?

I can't seem to find anything that does exactly what I want.

Oh my god.

Exet could be the answer to managing my compute cluster. I can use it to start individual ssh sessions for each node, then selectively choose which nodes to send commands to.

Not only could it allow me to distribute execution across the network, it can make updating, configuration, and management easier. It's so perfect for this! It's almost like I had this goal in mind, even though I hadn't considered this specific application.

I do still need to get backed files and channel activation working, so that I can change file paths after a program is started. But, for now, I can make up that deficit using some shell magic.

I have given up on the 'install' command.

It's a nonstandard utility, and the implementations that do exist can't even agree with one another. The GNU and BSD versions completely swap the -d and -D options, and I just can't be bothered.

At some point, I'll add a file installation function to d22. But, for now, I'll just do the work in the build script.
