summarising some of my fics cos i miss writing
sometimes i feel i've got to (run away) - takin' over the asylum. slightly older so writing is a bit dodgy at times. this one follows a pre-hospitalisation campbell bain, in the lead up to his admission, and particularly focuses on his struggles in school and with his parents. he desperately needs to feel seen; for somebody to admit that something is wrong with him and that he isn't making it all up. he acts out by running away and drinking. the never-ending sky drunken fight is inspired by this fic!!!
don't be daft - broadchurch. alec hardy mistakes a panic attack for a heart attack. in the confusion, he overdoses on tablets he no longer needs, and is found on the floor by an aimless ellie miller. takes place after his pacemaker surgery.
an irish airman - takin' over the asylum. inspired by yeats, 'an irish airman foresees his death'. campbell reflects on fergus' death and recalls his final moments. experimental prose. suicidal themes and implied suicidal thoughts throughout.
wait for me - broadchurch. a slightly weird fic where alec hardy has reoccurring nightmares in which he is a child in broadchurch being murdered. represents his guilt over both sandbrook and broadchurch; he compares himself to both a dead child and a murderer at the same time. contains graphic descriptions of violence and slightly gorey scenes, including a dream-character burning alive. B-plot follows the time alec went home to try and fix things with tess
twenty-five decembers - MY FAVOURITE!! broadchurch. follows 25 consecutive decembers in alec hardys life, 25 years, starting in 1990 and ending in 2015. basically extreme alec hardy backstory with a vaguely christmas vibe but it's not festive or integral, just helps aid the flow of the story. deals with themes of child abuse, parent death, divorce, etc. also major tess sympathy be warned
when the sirens sound - broadchurch. unfinished but im getting there I promise. fic in which daisy dies in a sudden car accident. alec is the only survivor, with 3 dead teenagers, and suffers from severe survivors guilt and ptsd. follows both the immediate fallout, the lead up and the aftermath of the accident. mainly about grief, slightly graphic. also themes of suicide and self-harm
