GENTUPOSTING HAS BEGUN anyways im having thoughts about the Eastside AMV
first off HAVING THESE IMAGES GIVES US SO MUCH INFO AND IM SO HAPPY ABOUT IT!!! In order this is Psyren, the Cicadas, and the Kami Gang's profiles on him
what intrigues me most is that we don't know anything about how Gentu ended up in any of the situations they list??? Like we know he was involved with the Kami gang we know Something happened when he was younger BUT NOT A CLUE WHAT LEAD UP TO IT OR ANY SPECIFICS
and it seems the mask and arm are literally linked to his brain somehow!! When he inserts HIRO it looked like HE was also shot with adrenaline which was translated in his mask, rather than just his arm getting a power up ykwim
Also looks like the robotic arm doesn't process pain the way his organic one does; when the arm blows up he doesn't react in pain or anything, he more shocked and disoriented to suddenly losing feeling in arm.
And it's not like hes someone with an impossibly high pain tolerance either!!! we see him look weaker as the amv goes on
Alsoalso I find it interesting how he was TERRIFIED of his mask being taken off like that shot of his eye was full of horror
Is it identity issues? is it genuinely a part of him?? Did his mind finally catch up to how scared he should be in this situation???
- Ik Psyren was thinking the mask and arm were made by Mimi but i think it was both Kami gang
- Mimi's a whiz with mechanics but we don't ever see her creating the arm, only doing repairs when Gentu gets scratched up
- Also could be an explaination why Mimi never fixes the hand in Cicada, since the technology is so crazy and she wouldn't have blueprints
- HOWEVER if we go with the route that Mimi made the arm I still think it's the Kami gang who did the mask
- Everyone in the gang has one and they all have decent expressions but Gentus is by far the most expressive
- Maybe headstrong tween gentu had the choice to choose a mask to become part of the gang and chose the most complex
- Maybe the leader (i need to remember their name) stopped anyone from warning Gentu that these masks require like needles or some other form of brain connection to work and thus are super painful to put on/take off
- Could explain why Gentu was terrified of the mask being taken off and would explain why Mimi hasn't fixed something as simple as the LED screen eye; it's straight up just awful to take off and then put it back on to the point of not being worth it
- I can also see the Kami using the mask as an initiation/punishment to be a part of their gang
- "You put on the mask, you're one of us now" as a form of hazing almost
- "You betray us, we're taking off the mask" as a painful punishment for trying to leave/a threat if you pull this again
- Like when you're getting that mask taken off it's either A) so painful as a warning to what'll happen now that you're an enemy of the gang or B) so painful you beg for them to stop and realize this is gonna happen again if you step outta line YOU SEE WHAT IM SAYING
- Gentu doesn't respond to any authority well so i'm sure at some point he fucked up and was gonna face the Kami gangs wrath, but escaped and stayed hidden long enough to be found by Mimi or Rebel
- Thus cementing him as an traitor but is also now stuck with the mask YOU SEE WHAT IM ON
OH AND ON HIS ARM I THINK IT WAS EITHER:
- Lost when the incident that gave him trust issues happened, then got the robot arm from the Kami gang
- Lost in during the fuck up that made him escape the kami gang, then got the robot arm from Mimi
