I'm curious on your thoughts on DC Bombshells, I never read the series but had interest in it only because of the art and tbh the designs of the characters looked really neat. But I was turned off by it cause it looked like literally everyone in that series was a lesbian. Now that isn't to say I hate lesbians (hell I'm Bi and enjoy Steven Universe) but I mean in a way where it felt forced. Like what they did with Big Barda was a big nope to me.
Oh Christ they made Big Barda into a lesbian too?!
But yeah, I share the same idea. The costume designs are neat, the art is quite good, and hell, I’m a sucker for that Classic Pinup™ look, but it’s just oversaturated with pandering lesbianism across the board, instead of a natural balance.
Never mind the fact that the series is set in World War 2, and like, yeah, it’s an alternate universe and all, but let’s not be stupid and pretend that being LGBT was widely accepted back then. In fact, quite the opposite. And wouldn’t it be a thousand times more interesting to have an even balance between straight and LGBT characters, and not try to do some weird third wave feminism “Everybody is a Lesbian” kind of absurdity?
Also, you just know that if these characters were straight, and making out with guys while in those pin-up styled outfits, there’d be tumblr SJWs rioting in the streets and trying to burn down any store that sold the comics.
But because it’s lesbians, the fan service outfits and constant sexualization is Okay™.
I hate double standards.
