Eric Grant, Sophomore Vocal Performance Major from Winchester, VA
1. What is your favorite part about SU?
I have lived in Winchester for my entire life and was very happy to attend my town's school. The best part about Shenandoah University in my humble opinion is how personal the education can be. I was astonished that one of my very first classes at the school only had a roster of myself and six other students. That makes for a lot of opportunity in having the instructor really get to know all students as individuals to address their specific needs instead of just addressing the class as a whole at all times.
2. Where is your favorite place off campus?
My favorite places off campus are anywhere from a park to a hillside; where you can walk out and enjoy the naturally beautiful side of Winchester. Escaping the town and seeing what a sunny day has to offer.
3. What has been your favorite class?
My favorite class so far has been Opera Studio as taught by the wonderful Dr. Byron Jones. It was the first opportunity to start work on what some vocal performance majors want to make a career of. There was a strong emphasis in both acting and singing and how to be well versed in combining the two.
Sara Backus, Junior Acting Major from Leesburg, VA
1. What has been your favorite class?
Movement class my freshman year. It introduced me to the idea that as actors our whole body is our instrument and it inspired me to pursue work in movement directing. It was also my first class with my favorite professor, Carolyn Coulson.
3. Why did you choose Shenandoah?
I initially wanted a smaller school and I thought that I could get the equivalent of a city-style studio education while being close to home. I also enjoyed the people I met when I first auditioned.
4. Where is your favorite place on campus?
Glaize Studio Theatre. It's an interesting mix of a secluded space and a collaborative venue and I have many wonderful memories of working with many people in that space.
How about you take a walk in my shoes...? (Closed rp with Shendependent)
Shaco had just been on a bit of a journey, having spent most of his time in the north in Zaun, he had went south, all the way south, to Bandle city, and scouted out the Sorceress Lulu and “picked up” her special wand. Of course getting out of there before any of the pesky yordles had known what had happened. He only wanted to play with it for a while, he was going to give it back at some point...at some point... On his way back to Zaun he came across the idea of going to the island of Ionia. His very special Torture special friend, Shen, was residing there. The jester thought it was best he gave his old friend a visit. Having sneaked onto a large boat from Noxus that was headed to Ionia, for reasons unknown, he finally landed in Ionia. Walking to Shen’s clinic he looked through the large windows of the Doctor’s office and spotted Shen asleep at his desk, probably after a long day of work. Slipping through the open window he silently knelt beside Shen, watching him with his smokey blue eyes, his breath soft but dry, being a little thirsty, but right now, his thoughts were set on Shen’s mind... “Shen...hey...hey Shen....SHEN!” he let out a little laugh as he shouted Shen’s name into his ear, pouncing back on his two feet out of the way if Shen had swiped at him. Shaco stood on the arm of the chair in a strange crouching stance, his head tilting to the side, the stick he had just picked up in his hand... shendependant
