11. In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been?

“Reinwell–you crazy son of a–”

“Now, sweetheart, i-it’s not as bad as it looks.” the disheveled eyrie tried to assure, hand shakily trying to stay together as the dark wraith mist slowly spread up the length of his arm. 

Shenkain sat beside him, inspecting the infection. “I told you not to go without me. I told you not to be a hero–you idiot–” she scolded, trying not to let the hot tears get in the way of her anger. 

They sat together, sheltered in a nearby cave on the outskirts of Faerieland. The sounds of fighting could still be heard in the distance. The two had come to aid in defending the fallen city, but hadn’t prepared for the worst case scenario.

“I didn’t know they, er, could spread so quickly.” Rein chuckled, trying to keep the situation from feeling as bleak as it was. Several Neopians had already been turned into the ghostly monsters that wreaked havoc across their world, and it seemed it was only getting worse day by day. 

“We can get help–it’s not too late.” Shen put a hand on her husband’s good arm, glossy eyes inspecting his. The draik had never felt so helpless. The reality of the possibility the fun-loving, innocent man she knew could become a creature of destruction and chaos was too much to bear. “I can’t lose you.”

“You won’t.” Reinwell managed a smile, reaching up to hold his wife’s chin up, “we’ve been through worse, eh? Please trust we will fix this. We will.” 

“Okay.” Shen sniffled, “Okay…”
