          she shyly glances up at him, head tilting and turning so eye contact could properly be managed. if it’d been any other time she might’ve laughed at this cliche—the moment in which the sterling young maiden urged her prince charming to gaze into her eyes, to look upon her soul and suddenly understand everything. to pull her closer…but things weren’t like in the stories.

      She knew she wasn’t particularly skilled with a sword (if anything, she was particularly unskilled amongst the Shepherds), but practicing with Chrom made it clear that she must not have had much--if any--training at all. But then again, he hadn’t hired her for her swordsmanship, and, if his amused laughter was any indication, he didn’t mind it at all.

     “You’re exaggerating,” she replied with a shake of her head. “I mean, you all managed before I came along, didn’t you? Though I am grateful for the help--I’d be pretty useless on the battlefield if it weren’t for my magic.”
