She-Ra starts syncs at 4:30 S4E3
Remember this scene from Tales From '85? This dialogue that's way too specific to not mean anything? Yeah, that's cause it actually means something...
We of course have the inconsistency of She-Ra not even airing until September of 1985. Which means Rosario wouldn't be watching it (especially not on cable. I guess one could argue that she had connections to someone producing it, but even that is a reach) in January. But was that really all this line was supposed to mean? No!!
If the original She-Ra didn't air at this time, who's to say that the line isn't referencing the 2018 version? The version known for being extremely gay? That strangerwriters has mentioned before? The show that was literally a Netflix original? Yeah, it seems very obvious to me that "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power" is the She-Ra hinted at here.
Anyways, She-Ra starts at 4:30...
@fixthehyper and @nuffit came up with the idea that She-Ra was supposed to sync to Stranger Things, starting at S4E3 "The Monster and the Superhero" and at the very first season and episode of She-Ra. I've only watched the first (ST) episode of that sync, but based purely on that (and some clips of the sync further ahead), this seems to be the right interpretation... This isn't what my post is about however (and I don't know if there'll be a post centered around that sync or not, you'll have to ask @fixthehyper about those details).
Since this line is being said in Tales, and it's such a specific way of phrasing, I couldn't get the idea of syncing She-Ra (starting at 403) with Tales (101). Sure, the thought of this show having two syncs seemed a little far-fetched maybe, but then again... The themes of that show are kinda extremely relevant to CG.
I won't go in depth on that (mostly because I've lowkey forgotten a lot of She-Ra and don't wanna spread misinformation) but just know that the themes/plot are similar to some of the theories going around
Back on track, I tried mathing a little, and I found out that the episodes (starting at 403) would line up with tales down to the second, if all the shera episodes got their credits and intros removed... As in, S4 of shera would end at the same exact time that tales s1 ended. And since we already knew there would be a s2, it seemed likely that s5 of shera is supposed to sync with that (does this mean s2 will be longer? Or is the 3rd season actually real, and s5 will be split up to sync to the both of them? Who knows)
Anyways, @fixthehyper helped me with the math, as they already had the episode lenghts written down and stuff (I used that list/spreadsheet for double checking my calculations, cause I still needed to make some adjustments, but it was a great reference point and they deserve a massive shoutout and thank you!!)
I then remembered that the end of Tales s1 ended with "We'll meet again" playing and carrying over into the credits. Since She-Ra s4 ends with Glimmer getting separated from Adora and Bow, I thought it might be possible that I had to keep the very first intro of She-Ra (16 seconds). That way, the last scene would still have (relevant) music over it. And after having watched the first episode synced both ways (with/without those 16 seconds at the very beginning), I decided (with support/approval from my council) that the extra 16 seconds version was the correct sync.
All of this to say, I here have a drive of the synced episodes (split in three, tales 1-3 / tales 4-6 / tales 7-10, as that would make it easier to watch it all in either one or multiple sittings).
The tales episodes might be a bit faulty, I can't really tell. But the sync lines up properly. I triple checked that
I can only add one video, so I have decided to show the clip that made me certain the intro (which is not the theme song btw) was supposed to be there
The way "I hope this works, Mike" "Don't worry. This plan's gonna work" "Did it work" lines up?!?!!!
The background behind Adora (at the beginning of this clip) kinda matches the tree and the sky in the tales shot.
"Okay, guys. Confirm location." "Welcome to Brightmoon"
Lucas landing on the ground right as Flutterina/Double Trouble blinks (it sounds kinda like a sound effect imo)
And the episode literally ends, right as Max says "Over"... How much more obvious could it be?
I will be sharing more clips in the discord, and maybe I'll make a compilation of clips or something so I can talk more about it here on Tumblr. I would love to hear some of y'alls thoughts on this sync and feel free to spread the theory/google drive to the twitter cg'ers as well!!
