          she hears movement from upstairs and knows it isn’t stiles. the sheriff is awake and feet shuffle across his bedroom floor. mere minutes later he’s down in the kitchen for his morning coffee where the werecoyote has been for the past ten minutes. she’s sitting up on the counter in only stiles’ borrowed t-shirt and eating bacon right from the package. when noah walks in, she looks up with a few strands of hair in her eyes, and offers up a smile as she holds out his favorite coffee mug. “here you go.” she’s picked up on his morning routine and thought she’d make his coffee for him. after all, all she did was push a button. how could she mess that up? // @sheriffofbeaconcounty

I’ve answered a similar question before on previous blogs BUT I love answering this questin because it is so important!!!!

So Scott’s actual dad was an asshole. I mean, there’s no getting around it. He was a drunk and he was at least semi abusive in canon (though I have some pretty important headcanons that he was a lot more ABUSIVE than sorta abusive but it was almost only @ melissa and then when it turned on Scott and he fell down the stairs Melissa was finally like PEACE OUT BITCH) and while he does try to make amends when he comes back that’s 6 years later and sorry you weren’t really deserving of it to start with =]

From a very young age, Scott looked to his mom (even before his father left) because she’s always been his rock. She’s strong and humbling. She doesn’t take SHIT. And deserves the entire world. Rafael might not have always been the ass that he became, and Scott and I are very proud of Mom for kicking his butt to the curb when she did.

Despite all of this, of course he loves him. It’s his father. But there is a difference between love and respect. He in no way shape or form respects Rafael McCall. He tries his hardest to NOT be him, and in doing so tries to emulate Melissa instead. He also tries to emulate Sheriff Stilinksi! (and later on Chris and Deaton) All three of those people became the father he never had without having to ever actually be his dad. They each in some way showed love and examples in the ways his father never did. FOR EXAMPLE -- we all know Noah had some alcohol problems. But did that mean he harmed Claudia or Stiles? NOPE. An example of a very real human being who had other ways to take out his anger.

....honestly I could go on forever about how Noah, Chris, and Deaton each gave Scott something very important. But at the end of the day it is still Melissa’s teachings that created the beautiful Scott McCall we see.
