Ya know one of the things that I hate the most? The idea that "Sherlock is so cerebral, he's not driven by passion or emotion, but cold logic." Uhm, bullshit. I mean, there's a million reasons why (and yes, he CAN BE clinical and dispassionate, as we all can depending on circumstances); but in EVERYTHING from ACD canon through all current incarnations, theres is ONE CONSTANT PROOF THAT THIS IS BULLSHIT. I ask you this: why do we listen to music? What is it about it that is so appealing? It MOVES us. It evokes feelings and emotions and takes us on a passionate journey. And if you're lucky enough to play an instrument (or even just sing along to the radio, or dance in your room), you KNOW that when it is music that you connect with, you CANNOT FAIL TO BE MOVED. Playing a violin is NOT a cerebral exercise. It is physical - precise, but passionate. Sherlock Holmes has ALWAYS been a deeply passionate man. Nevermind his canon enthusiasm for The Work, for science, the cases... he has ALWAYS PLAYED MUSIC. ALWAYS.
