Little doodle of a Sherlock-in-a-blanket. Fang for vampires.
I'm having a sore throat and a cough and I feel like shit, but since I'm walking around in a sheet I feel more....comfy :D I understand Sherlock more than I ever did.
Sherlock the Philosopher
History class. Unless you're really interested in it, what's the point? I mean when I am ever going to use this in my life? (a teachers *favorite* question, I am sure). I am just going to go home and watch Netflix in my PJ's anyways. It's not relevant to my life.
Let me tell you something, history and TV watching go hand-in-hand.
There's this little show called Sherlock which I am sure none of you have heard about. (This post contains no spoilers so continue reading even if you some how have never watched the show.) Sherlock is a continually fascinating and deep show in which you must watch several times (or at least that's what I tell my self) to gather all the meanings but I BET you missed this one.
Now for the history lesson: the Greeks were actually quite fashionable folk and they even had fashion rules you couldn't break. Your attire told others how your life was (recently married, mourning ect.) as well as your social status (what your job was and if you were a citizen). This was the time of togas and chitons (pronounced kittens) were one would complicatedly fold and pin your drapes in order to achieve the desired look.
Seriously it was some complicated stuff and there were many layers involved. Remember what I said about the attire defining you? Well there was one member of society who said nah man to the fashion of the times; this was the Greek philosopher. Instead of doing the complicated folding and pining he simply wore a himation. This was literally just a sheet thrown over ones self. Oh, and they would wear it with nothing underneath it. That's right, these pompous, yet intelligent bastards didn't give a damn what others thought and wore what they wanted.
Hmm, sound familiar??? Do you happen to know of another pompous, yet intelligent bastard who wears nothing but a sheet????? OK,OK maybe I am just looking too much into it like the crazed fan I am. It's not like anyone later that episode calls Sherlock a philosoph-
Hot damn, I think I am on to something.
Why Moffat and co., I saw that. You thought your devoted fans wouldn't catch that did you? Well guess what, this one did.
So if you liked this post and thought it was insightful and made you reconsider History being your sleeping class follow me! I am new to blogging so please give me some criticism or ideas of fashion in TV and cinema you want analysed .
Remember to never ignore that Fashionable Cinema Scene!
..And in that moment, we wished we all were air-benders.
We all know these things were going through John's head at the sheet scene...
THIS is my laptop background. I went to get my laptop fixed and forgot to change it. The guy opened it up and then gave the most awkward little chuckle. He then got really red and closed the laptop so fast I was afraid he broke it......this is the life I lead
