Sherlock could hear John when he was 'dead' at St. Barts, so he would have heard the whole "he's my friend, let me through! Please he's my friend!" and basically hear John's heart crumble to a million pieces

and yet 

he was so surprised in TSOT that John considered him to be his best friend and best man.

I got him to think she's friendly but then she tried to use his shower and he got creeped out again so I had to make her go home.
