That's because the main route forces you through that. The only way to not have to go through it is by finding the super secret obscure time traveling route, but I wasn't thinking straight and hid it so no one could find it. Anyway, you're supposed to play this by hitting the back button a lot, since I didn't bother making a logical course through the story. I just focused on making it as entertaining as possible. So you should try every option and one of those will work.

these are neat, did you pixel and animate them?

Nope. I just took out each frame from the sprite sheet, pieced them together into an animated GIF, and turned it transparent. All of the actual art was done by ZUN.
