The search for Samuel was still under way. As much tragedy that had happened in the past few months, Lu was tired. This was supposed to be the time of their lives. This was not the time when she or the boy she loved madly should have been dealing with so much heartache. Knowing that Guzman’s sister was in a coma, that the person who attempted to murder her was still at large, and now with this whole thing with Samuel, she wasn’t sure how much Guzman could take. She knew that in some ways he was pulling away from her. He wasn’t being the same, and spending so much time with that annoying bitch Nadia was really getting to her.
No matter about Nadia she was always going to be by his side. They were Lu and Guzman. They worked better together. With Marina away he needed someone who loved him to keep him together. Taking a break from the search she let him go off to search the woods before she went home.
Home, more like the one place that had now felt suffocating with her older half-brother around looking at her in ways that he shouldn’t have. Pushing the thought of him away she was confused at the figure on her porch. The light made the figure look strange. Her heart nearly stopping at the thought that it could be Samuel. Instead it was someone else. The bold blue eyes that they had all prayed would one day open again. “Marina.” Her words coming from her as a whisper. “What are you doing her?” Her heels made quick crunching noises against the gravel. Lu still couldn’t believe what she was seeing. As much competition as Marina and Nadia gave her in terms of her studies there was a relief. Things could go back to normal. Everything would be better than before. That sense of relief washing over her she pulled the girl in by her shoulders. “I know this is weird but no one is looking at us.” She was still confused as to what the girl was doing before her.
Pulling away she flattened her outfit as if to brush off the awkwardness of the moment. “Are you okay?” She pulled away. Even if Lu had dated her brother the two didn’t have what one would call the best relationship. Lu was judgmental as to the quality of people Marina chose to be around. Hopefully this situation and whoever did this to her would make her rethink who the caliber of people she spent time with. “I just… can’t believe it. You’re really here.” Her mind racing with all that was going on it still slowed to think of a few things. “Guzman.” She looked around knowing that the boy they both cared about was nowhere near. “He doesn’t know.” If he did there was no way that he would have been searching the woods for someone as insignificant as Samuel. “Come. Let’s go inside and soon we’ll call him.” She nodded for the girl to just approve. Not knowing how well she was with walking up stairs she offered her arm for the girl to take. “And excuse the mess, or close your eyes as you come in. Valerio’s home and I’m sure that the house looks like a fucking disaster.”
