Okay guys, here it is. I started writing this back in June and I’m just finally finished with it. It’s not that it is super long, it was just that I was super lazy so sorry about that. This was originally for @theshevineproject, I actually used two of the prompts that people sent in, the one where Adam and Blake spend a whole day handcuffed together for a charity event, and the one where Adam spends an entire episode of The Voice sitting on Blake’s lap, since I feel these two kind of go hand in hand. Hope you guys like it!

Adam paced around the kitchen as he held the phone up to his ear. “Man, I don’t know, are you sure this is a good idea?” He asked in concern. Adam had to admit, Blake did sound rather excited, and definitely thought of the neat possibility himself, but he knew he would desperately regret it if he ended up agreeing to this plan. After about another minute of uncomfortable silence, and Blake’s half-hearted pleas, he finally broke and agreed. He hung up the phone and sat on the couch, rubbing his face with his hand. Really, of all things they could do for charity, Blake had to agree for himself and Adam to be handcuffed together for an entire day. Adam hadn’t even known about it until Blake had just called him to tell him about it. As much as he did love Blake, and his jabs about Blake being annoying were always fake, he worried about spending a little too much time with him and actually getting sick of him. Adam had spent the entire day with Blake in the past at his ranch, but they were always able to go in different directions if they needed to.
The biggest thing that he was concerned about however, which also happened to be what Blake was most excited for, that bastard, was the day Blake agreed for this to take place was on one of the days they were shooting one of the live shows of The Voice. It was on a vote off day, so at least it was only an hour show, but still. He was literally going to have to sit on Blake’s lap for the entire show, most likely with the hand that was attached to Blake’s at an incredibly uncomfortable position behind his back. Adam knew the fans were going to absolutely love it, but for himself, maybe not so much.
Adam arrived at the studio the day of the live broadcast and walked in to be met with the production assistants and all the other celebrities who agreed to do something for charity. Adam didn’t even know what the other options were, hell, he didn’t even hear about this event until Blake had called him and told him he signed the two of them up. Adam sighed while he was lead to the back to meet up with Blake.
“Hey buddy, there you are!” Blake called out. “You ready for this?” He asked in an amused tone.
“A little heads up before you agree to anything next time would be great.” Adam said, as Blake just walked over and hugged him. “Ew man, we are literally going to be like this all day, can’t we just enjoy our personal space while we have it?” Adam tried to sound annoyed, but really he knew Blake could tell he was having fun with this too. “I still can’t believe we have to do the show like this tonight.”
Blake laughed, “Well be thankful it’s not a two hour show, but I don’t know what you are complaining about, you’re gonna be the one with the great view while I have to look at the back of your head!” Adam hadn’t thought about Blake not being able to see around him. Well, Blake’s fault for signing them up without consulting him first.
Just then they were told the broadcast was starting and to be ready to walk out when they heard their names being called. After about five people were called, Adam heard his and Blake’s name so they walked out together, Adam pulling his hand out of Blake’s when he tried to grab for it. They both walked out and took their place next to the others, smiling and waving at the studio audience that was cheering. Once everyone was out, explanation of each person’s act for charity was announced. Everyone in the audience cheered and laughed when told Adam and Blake would spend the whole day in handcuffs together, there were even a few whoops and whistles.
“But the most special part,” said the announcer, “is that you will be able to see Adam and Blake tonight live on The Voice, yes, still in their handcuffs. Have fun with that boys.”
Blake then made a grab for Adam’s hand and held it in his before Adam had a chance to pull it away. They got a few more whistles from the audience until they moved onto the next person. At the end, they put the cuffs around Blake and Adam’s wrist and their long day of being together had officially started.
“I’m sure we will all be tuning into The Voice tonight to see how you guys have handled this.” Said the announcer. The audience cheered once again. The studio started to clear out after a while and everyone went home, except for Adam and Blake, who were struggling a bit.
“You do realize we have to coordinate our steps now too, right?” Adam said, constantly trying to walk normally but being yanked back or forwards when Blake misplaced his step, which was almost every time. “What, are you drunk already, you big ogre?”
“I could take you down right here and you could not get away, you do realize that right?” Blake said with a smirk.
“Get your mind out of the gutter and come on, we need to go.” Adam said, laughing when he tugged his arm forward and Blake almost face planted. Of course Adam would have gone down then as well but had not thought of that until after, glad Blake didn’t actually fall, but was still happy to see him stumble. “Shit man, whose car are we taking, who is going to drive, and how the hell are they going to drive?” Adam said suddenly, stopping his steps.
“Relax,” Blake reassured, “We’ll take my truck and i’ll drive, you can pick up your car tomorrow.”
Now here was the extra tricky part Adam hadn’t thought of, actually getting into the car. Since Blake was driving, Adam had to get in the driver’s seat first, then climb over to the passengers side. Blake had to follow closely behind, getting into his side the moment he felt the tug of the cuffs. Adam thought he had gotten the better end of the deal, until he realized that while Blake got to comfortably keep both hands on the wheel, Adam had to keep his left hand elevated to keep up with Blake’s right. Also, whenever Blake turned the wheel and made a hard left, Adam’s wrist would be tugged and made to follow the wheel which meant that Adam was forced to fall into Blake. Blake laughed every time they turned, and Adam swore that Blake was taking extra turns just to make Adam fall into him. Clearly he had not gotten the better end of the deal. Adam was relieved when they finally pulled into Blake’s driveway.
“How was the ride for ya buddy?” Blake said with a huge grin.
“I hate you.” Adam shot back, but couldn’t keep the smile off his face.
“Well, we have to be down at the studio in a couple of hours so you get to do it all over again.” The grin got bigger on Blake’s face. Adam sighed as they entered the house.
Blake was certainly correct, before Adam knew it they were back in the car and headed to the studio. Those couple of hours in the house weren’t that bad, and Adam had actually expected the time to go much slower than it actually did. There was one moment, though, that Adam made Blake swear never to talk about again. One cringe worthy moment that Adam was sure he would have nightmares about later. One terrifying moment where Blake’s bladder had not been able to control itself, and Adam had to stand facing the wall as Blake relieved himself. Adam tried desperately to push those memories out of his head, and once again got tugged side to side with the wheel as he cursed Blake under his breath.
They arrived at The Voice studio with plenty of time to get ready before the show. Another thing Adam had not thought about was that they also had to share trailers that night. No personal space, no relaxing alone before the show, no anything without Blake. They both walked in only to be greeted by Carson, who looked like a kid in a candy store at the moment, the biggest smile you had ever seen on a grown man. Adam prepared himself for the round of jokes Carson was about to throw at them.
“Look at you two lovebirds.” Carson said with a snarky laugh.
“Yeah, HaHa,” Adam said sarcastically. “Tonight is going to be a nightmare.”
“He’s just angry he can’t do his pre-show yoga tonight.” Blake laughed back.
“Yeah, because i’m attached to a doofus.” Adam shot back playfully, feeling a little less stressed.
“Okay boys, which trailer do you want to use tonight?” Carson asked.
Adam laughed. “Well considering Blake’s trailer smells like cheese and whiskey, I would say mine.”
Adam and Blake spent the remaining time before the show started talking in Adam’s trailer, after they got fixed up. Adam had actually practiced sitting on Blake’s lap, finding it just as uncomfortable as he thought it would be, but finding it hilarious that Blake also complained about having no way of seeing over or around him. Before they knew it, it was time for the show and they had lined up in the hall outside the stage door, preparing themselves for the night and the possibly disastrous show they were about to have.
Gwen and Pharrell were already waiting on the side when they got there, immediately snickering when they saw the two walking towards them.
“Well don’t you two look cute.” Gwen mocked, while Pharrell laughed behind her. She could tell Adam was slightly annoyed and that Blake was loving every single second of it.
After about ten minutes, the show had started and Carson was announcing each name. Gwen walked out first, waving to the crowd as they all went wild. Then Carson announced Pharrell, who gave Adam and Blake one last smirk before he walked out.
Adam looked up at Blake right before they heard their name. “Ready?”
Blake grabbed the hand that he was connected to. “Oh you know it, buddy.”
Adam rolled his eyes. He knew there was no use in trying to fight with Blake that they shouldn’t hold hands while they were already handcuffed, so Adam just let it happen.
“And finally,” Carson announced, “give it up for Blake and Adam!”
The two walked out, hand in hand, with their two wrists connected so there was no way of separating. The crowd went absolutely insane, cheering and whistling at the pair as they walked out onto the stage. Adam could feel his heart pounding out of his chest, but looked up at Blake who had the biggest, dopiest smile on his face, and Adam couldn’t help but smile too.
Before they even got to Blake’s chair, Carson was already hurling jokes at them. They both had to move in sync in order for Blake to be able to sit down, and then for Adam to get on his lap with his arm twisted behind him. The step up to the chair along with the front on the chair only allowing entrance on the two sides made everything that more difficult. The audience continued to cheer until Adam finally plopped into Blake’s lap, exhausted from the struggle of getting there.
“Comfy there, Adam?” Carson eventually asked with a smile.
“Of course,” Adam replied, “who wouldn’t like sitting on a Sasquatch for an hour?” A laugh exploded from behind him. Adam smiled to himself. He secretly loved when Blake laughed, it was a sound so big and full of happiness.
Adam then snapped out of it when Blake shouted from behind him. “Yeah well I can’t see a damn thing around this moron!” Adam looked down and smiled to himself, loving every ‘insult’ that Blake lobbed at him.
“Well I’m sure you will figure it out, Blake.” Carson said, then continued on with the start of the show.
So far, whenever Blake wanted to talk to one of his artists, they had to walk down from the stage to the chair and stand on the side so Blake could actually see them. Adam would always try to disrupt them as much as possible, because bothering Blake is what he lived for. Then Blake would shoot Adam a look after his artist had walked away, and Adam laughed every time. It was a constant back and forth of disruptance, glares, and laughter. Adam could tell, however, that Blake was enjoying himself, and Adam was too.
It was about halfway through the show when Adam started to get really squirmy and uncomfortable. He wouldn’t want to be sitting on anyone else’s lap but Blake’s, but his arm was sore from being twisted the whole time. He was used to being able to move around more. He already made Blake promise that they would not get out of the seat no matter what, since it took them so long to get in it the first time, which then of course made Blake joke about having to go to the bathroom and peeing on the seat. But Adam could feel his ADHD kicking in and he had to move.
He started out by shifting his weight every couple of minutes. Then, unsatisfied still, he began to do it more frequently, until it turned into Adam shifting around every few seconds. Not huge noticeable movements for anyone else to catch, but Blake felt every little shift.
After a couple of minutes of the constant shifts, Adam heard Blake clear his throat from behind him. It had just gone to commercial break, which was very fortunate for the both of them, because when Adam turned around to look at Blake, he could detect a light shade of pink to his cheeks. It also looked like he was avoiding Adam’s eyes.
“Hey, buddy!” Adam tried, hoping to get Blake’s attention. He wondered why Blake refused to look at him, while he was waving his hand in front of Blake’s face.
Blake then nervously shifted his eyes to Adam’s, the rosy color of Blake’s cheeks becoming more prominent.
He knew instantly that something was wrong. Real concern showed on Adam’s face as he tried to figure out what Blake could be thinking at that moment. He almost thought Blake looked… embarrassed?
“Blake?” Adam said, slowly. “Is everything alright?”
Blake’s eyes sprinted away from Adam’s once more before coming back.
“Do ya think you could maybe not move ‘round so much? It’s makin’ me slightly uncomfortable.”
Adam continued to search Blake’s face to try and figure out what was going on.
“Yeah, sorry buddy.” Adam finally managed to get out. “It’s just that, you know, this definitely isn’t a very comfortable position to be in–” And that’s where Adam stopped himself. It suddenly hit him mid-sentence, and now it was Adam’s turn to turn slightly red. He locked eyes with Blake and his eyes grew big.
“I-” Adam tried to spit out, but his mouth was not letting anything else come out at that moment. He drew his eyes down, then back up at Blake.
Shifting. Adam had moved around quite a lot, and he knew that Blake was able to notice even the tiniest movement. But then when Adam could not stop adjusting himself, he realized what Blake had been feeling, at what part Blake was feeling all of this movement at. Adam grew redder than Blake at that moment, and when Blake noticed, he actually started to chuckle. Adam looked up at Blake, and could not help joining in. In all of their laughter, they hadn’t realized that the show had started back up.
“Looks like our coaches are having a good time over there.” Adam and Blake suddenly heard Carson say. They both looked up and realized that they were once again on live television. “So, what is so funny over there boys?” Carson asked.
Adam and Blake looked at each other, then Adam spoke up.
“We have had an absolutely insane day today, Carson, but we have both still enjoyed every second of it.” Adam smiled wide as he looked over his shoulder at Blake. Blake then also smiled just as big and wrapped his arms around Adam’s waist, hugging him from behind. Adam’s arm was then able to return to its normal position and he sighed in relief. “Never let go of me, Blake.”
Carson laughed. “Looks like the bromance is still as strong as ever.”
prompt: Blake has been awful to Adam all week. Adam finally confronts him about it and tells him how much it is hurting him. Blake's only response is to kiss him. (he's acting out at him because it's easier to act meanly to him than to hide his feelings whilst being bromancy)
I loved fulfilling this prompt! It seems to be fitting considering the banter-tastic behaviour that has been reported a lot in the Shevine fandom lately. This one is longer than I anticipated, so I’m going to plonk it under a read-more! I hope you enjoy it! If you have a prompt, please let me know by writing in my ask and I’ll do my best to write it the best I can for you! (No, but seriously. I love receiving prompts. <3)
“You just can’t accept that you lost, can ya? Ya can’t take that I’m a better coach than you. Oh well, man, you’ll get a dark horse eventually. Step up the game, it’ll come.” Blake said slowly and easily with his bright grin, though his tone didn’t mimic the one of teasing like it normally would. It wasn’t light and airy, it wasn’t supposed to make Adam chuckle like usual. It wasn’t there to give entertainment, humour or lightness; it was there to sting him. He could hear the tone lingering in the words he had said and, even though Adam knew what he was saying was complete bullshit, the words cut him deeper than they ever could have if they had an aura of joking about them. They didn’t even remotely possess that quality, and it hurt. It wasn’t the first time this week that he’d done something like that, either. But just last week they had been inseparable - Blake had even started coming over to Adam’s chair and squeezing in with him during the breaks, wrapping his arms around him and nuzzling up cozily with him right up to the last second until they started recording again. It had gotten to the point where the others had actually stopped commenting on their actions because they knew that nothing would stop them (and they were happening too frequently to warrant the effort). They were joined at the hip and, truth be told, Adam was feeling so much love in his heart and he thought for a split second that maybe Blake was, too. That was, until he turned up on Monday and Blake was being excessively mean to him; not in the usual way that he had banter with him, though. This was cruel - he was being snide, rude and often quite evil. Adam had walked in on Monday, bounded straight over to Blake’s chair and jumped to sit in his lap, only to be greeted with a big hand placed upon his chest, stopping him from moving any closer. Okay, he’d thought, he’s probably just tired. And he’d left it there. But it had been going on all week, getting worse and worse as the days rolled by, and this was the final straw.Adam stood from his chair, placing his pen down as calmly as he could, flipping the cover of his notebook closed to buy him an extra second or two to calm himself down and rationally think of what he wanted to say. He stepped around the side of the chair and made his way immediately over to Blake, his footing getting heavier and heavier with each step, his face reddening with upset as he took in the countryman’s features; noting how soft and sweet they looked. He flicked his eyes briefly over his body, noticing how he was more slumped and usual. Oh, how he wanted to curl up with him right there. Despite the thought pressing on his mind, he continued forward and then stood right in front of Blake’s chair, crossing his arms over his chest. He cleared his throat, capturing the attention of Blake, who seemed immediately taken aback by Adam’s angry presence. His eyes widened and his jaw fell slack, obviously wanting to say something, but he wasn’t given the blessing - Adam tore into him immediately.
“Blake, what is your problem? Man, you haven’t been cool with me all week and I don’t get it! I know haven’t said anything bad to you because you haven’t even stayed around me long enough for me to say anything! You’ve barely been around and at the end of the day you’ve run away from me with a scowl on your face! What have I done to you, Blake? What’s the problem?!” He started off whispering to him attempting to be discreet, but he got louder and louder with every word spoken, hurt filling him and bubbling over in an overwhelming amount; his face reddening with every passing moment, spelling out his upset even clearer than his words. “The last time I came over to you and tried to talk to you, you snapped at me and then when I tried to sit with you like I often do, you told me to step away and to stop being such a child! You’ve never called me a child before, Blake! You’ve never pushed me away before… What is it? What did I do to you?” He finished off with a low grumble, slowly pushing Blake’s pen onto the floor as he placed his hands flat on the surface of the small table and leaned forward to look straight into Blake’s eye. “I’m not taking it anymore, man! I’m not! What the hell is up with you?!” His resolve cracked right then as the silence filled the bubble around them, bringing palpable tension with it. “I- I don’t know what I did- I… I don’t get it…” his voice fell to a whisper, barely audible to Blake, who was now sat bolt upright in his chair and had begun to lean forward a little. “I- I thought you… I thought you liked me, man. I thought- I thought we were friends…” he whispered, the word cutting into his heart painfully. He thought they were getting to be more than friends, but he’d clearly perceived everything they’d had completely incorrectly. The thought pressed upon his mind, questions burning inside of him as he took a step away from Blake’s chair, taking his silence as cue to leave him. He turned on his heel without a shadow of hesitation and jogged out of the studio, listening to the sounds of utterances around him. He didn’t care about them right now; they could be dealt with later. He could tell them it was all a play up, something to entertain during the long break. What he cared about was Blake and why he didn’t want anything to do with him anymore. What he cared about were the plethora of thoughts swimming in his mind, filling him with more doubt and confusion than ever. Thoughts that would probably never be put to bed, because it seemed that Blake just didn’t want to justify him with an answer. Adam slumped himself against the wall, leaning as his tormented mind flipped thoughts to and fro, his confusion ever increasing with every passing moment; each positive moment they had shared together replaying themselves in a loop in his mind, increasing his upset tenfold.
Just as Adam had completely admitted defeat with the whole thing and had resigned to the idea of going back to his chair and just ignoring Blake entirely off camera (he still had to be pleasant on camera, of course), he heard the booming footsteps of Blake’s cowboy boots - he’d know those footsteps a mile off; it wasn’t exactly hard to tell that they belonged to a six foot five countryman. His six foot five countryman. His heart panged at the thought, but he hastily shook it from his mind and huffed, standing himself up straight in order to greet the man - who was making quite an obvious beeline for him after spotting him leaning up against the wall just by the dressing rooms.
“What do you want, Blake?” he snapped, his own voice coming out snide and sarcastic. “Have you come to share some more sarcastic quips with me? I think I’ve heard enough of those over the past few days. Don’t you?”
“Adam- Just- Just, shut up for a sec!” Blake whispered, his voice trembling lightly; his entire body following suit as a ripple of nerves swept through him. He'd tried so hard to hide the fact that he'd had growing feelings for Adam - he'd tried hiding it through the "bromance" facade, he'd tried hiding it through acting like a brother to Adam, and he'd tried distancing himself from Adam (or getting him to distance from Blake) by being mean to him. None of it would work; he just had to face his feelings dead on, and he knew exactly what to do. His legs trembled at the mere thought; but he knew he had to do it. It had been a long time coming
“Why should I shut up? You haven’t shut up digging at me all week! Every time I’ve opened my mouth, you’ve had an issue with it and have torn into me! It isn’t fair, Blake, and I’ve had enough of this shit from you!”
Before Adam could even properly finish blurting the last few words of his rage, Blake had strode forward, immediately closing the gap between the two of them and consequently leaving no space for Adam to creep around him; he was cornered by him in that one simple movement. He took a deep breath and raised his hands to Adam’s open overshirt, grabbing fitfuls of it and using it as an anchor to pull him closer, doing just that and crashing his smaller body against Blake’s larger chest, the sound of his light grunt filling the silence around them in the corridor. The action practically swept Adam off of his feet, and he immediately found himself weakening in front of him, his entire body crumbling into Blake’s. He had tried to show how angry he was, how pissed off he was and how unfair Blake had been with him - but now it was completely unravelling as Blake held him there, staring at him with an ever intensifying gaze, his love-filled blues burning into his own eyes, losing himself in the swimming emotions that filled the eyes that he had gotten lost in more times than he could ever begin to count. He had lost all feeling in his arms, his legs, and all his mind could process was that Blake was stood mere centimetres away, gripping his shirt to keep him close. His heart hammered in his chest, conflicted with how to feel about the whole thing - but he made no attempt to move away from him. He couldn’t. He didn’t want to. He didn’t know where this was going, but he couldn’t move himself from Blake - being in such close proximity with him was just what he needed.
“Just… shut up.” Blake murmured gruffly, his deep voice further penetrating Adam’s icy exterior that he had tried so hold to keep ahold of. Adam lost complete strength in his body, but what happened next surprised him most of all: Blake used the grip of his shirt to pull Adam flush against his chest, smushing their bodies together without an ounce of hesitation, crushing the both of them together as he quickly lowered his head, bowing his back to bend him lower so that he could capture Adam’s lips beneath his own in one swoop; his slightly parted lips enveloping Adam’s with a sweet ease. Blake slowly moved his hands from the front of his shirt, smoothing down the fabric that he had ruthlessly tugged, sliding them down his sides to rest upon his back; his fingers fanning out over the muscular surface of his back, feeling the way the muscles were manipulated as his touch slid over each and every inch of his back, feeling the way he shivered beneath his touch. The feeling was addicting to him and he found that he couldn’t halt his movements even if he tried, the feel of Adam’s muscles beneath his fingers was a feeling he had craved for so long. He held him there, pressed tightly against his body as he kissed him feverishly; tilting his head to the left to give him better access to his lips, kissing him harder and more passionately with every passing second, each and every emotion spilling from him.
He parted his lips even further and felt Adam mirror the movement. His heart sped into overdrive and, before he could stop himself, he slid his tongue over his lips and darted it over the length of Ad’s bottom lip, the sweet taste of coffee and everything Adam spilling onto his taste buds; filling him with an impossibly increasing need, love, lust and desire. Everything that he was giving right now was like a drug to him; he needed more and he couldn’t get enough. Even as he slowly trailed his tongue over Adam’s bottom lip, he couldn’t get enough of the taste. He needed more, and so, he slowly flicked it across his top lip, and then withdrew it; parting his lips further to give him a deeper kiss, desperate to show him every single raw emotion that was spilling in his heart. The emotions had begged to escape from him for weeks and now, with his lips pressed firmly against Adam’s, he had the chance. He had the chance to show him just how intensely he felt for him, he had the chance to show him an explanation for why he had kept his distance. He was filled with love and lust, undeniably so, and now was the perfect time to show him just how intensely he felt the myriad of emotions.
A groan vibrating into the kiss pulled Blake from his thought filled stupor and he halted in his movements for his movement, timidly gauging if it was a groan of displeasure that had slid from Adam’s lips. He groaned once more and, before he knew it, he was being tugged closer into the rock star’s body, held there by strong hands as he stepped the kiss up a notch; kissing him harder and with increasing passion and need as the two of them gave each other what they desperately needed: each other.
The kiss broke away with the two of them panting, desperately attempting to catch their breaths once more. They had put off pulling away, but they knew they had to eventually; but even then, they remained close, their foreheads pressing against each other, their eyes remaining closed.
“I love you. I love you.” Blake whispered huskily against Adam’s kiss-bruised lips, their lips still brushing together. They knew they weren’t done here yet. Not by a long shot.
This is just a little something where Adam practices - for the hundredth time - how to tell Blake that he loves him.
Adam sighed as he walked into the bathroom at the studio, shutting the door behind him and punching the lock to avoid anyone else coming in. He’d been recording the show all day now, and on their fifth hour, he was starting to feel the pressure. He and Blake had shared more moments than ever before and, given his current feelings, he was struggling to handle them. Every time Blake came over to his chair, he felt his heart jump into his throat and his mind started racing with every single thing that he could say to him. When Adam jumped up and went to Blake’s chair, he went with the intention to hug him, cuddle him, kiss his cheek, anything... Anything that would bring them closer. Each time he went, he managed to kiss his forehead and give him a one armed hug, but then he scampered away like a frightened mouse. Not cool. Under the illusion that Blake somehow was beginning to see through his bromance facade, he’d departed to go to the bathroom to blow off some steam. He wanted to somehow tell Blake without actually telling him. And, with that thought in mind, he shuffled himself in front of the mirror and absorbed his complexion - bright pink, flushed, damp, lip bitten... He looked like a teen in love, and he didn’t know where to begin in talking and getting this off of his chest; so he started where his heart felt it right to.
“Blake,” he began timidly, his voice barely a whisper as he looked straight into his own reflection; his mind desperately conjuring up an image of the handsome man that he’d easily grown to love.
“I- don’t know where to begin with this, because I really don’t know what to say. I don’t want to make it sound weird, and I don’t want to lose you or what we have now-” his words faltered as he took a deep shaky breath inward, his nerves climbing despite how no one could hear. Just the thought of Blake hearing this made his heart go into overdrive; but he needed it to be heard, even if it was only himself who could hear it.
“-I can’t make you promise that things will be the same after I tell you this because- I don’t know... if they will. But- we’ve always had something different to the rest of the judges- we’ve always had a bond that people have seen between us. At first I thought it was funny. Us two having a bromance. I thought it was a bit of fun. A bit of banter. Something to entertain. But after a small while it became more than that. After a small while... It became something much more. Each time you’d-” he inhaled deeply and held it as he blurted the next part, his mind reeling with the memories.
“-kiss my cheek, I’d wish for your lips to somehow slip and capture mine. That one time when your lips actually did capture the edge of mine, I thought I was going to faint right there. I pushed you away because I didn’t want you to see just how happy and loved up it made me... I look forward to these moments with you - I can’t help it. They’re the highlight of my time here.”
He slowly bowed his head and placed his hands on the edge of the counter, his entire body heating with an undeniable flush as love rushed through him. The words that were tumbling from his lips were making him love Blake impossibly more and, even though he tried to deny it to himself, he wanted Blake to know more than anything. Taking a deep breath and keeping his head bowed, he continued to speak the last line of his ‘speech’.
“I love you, Blake. I love you with all of my strength. I love you.”
Immediately after the words were spoken, he fell silent. He took a deep breath inward and turned slowly on his heel, walking toward the door and flipping the lock open before sweeping out, returning to finish the auditions with the man who he’d just silently confessed his feelings to. He sunk back into his chair and did his usual, grinned at the others before zoning in on Blake; watching him as he took a long sip of his drink, getting himself comfortable in the chair, unknowingly being watched by Adam has he ran his fingers through his hair. Adam’s breath hitched at the action, completely taken aback by the route his thoughts took a moment or so later - he wanted to run his hands through that hair, to feel the softness running through his fingers... With a hefty sigh, he leaned back completely in his chair, looking straight up at the ceiling.
Prompt: Would love to see a story where Blake meets Adam's brother Michael & then Adam gets jealous of his relationship with Blake. Thinking Blake likes Michael more because Michael does like Blake & isn't afraid to tell him
Adam stood up in surprise and smiled happily when he spotted Michael. He walked over to his younger brother and gathered him into a hug. “Hey man! What are you doing here? I thought you were still in Florida.”
Michael shrugged, “I didn’t have anything to do, so I thought that I’d give my favorite brother a visit.” Adam chuckled softly, “That’s a lie and you know it.” Adam started to say something, but paused when he noticed that Michael’s attention was directed elsewhere.
He smirked when he noticed who he was looking at. “Want me to introduce you?” The younger man just glanced at Adam mischievously before sauntering over to Blake confidently.
Adam stared at him with mild shock before rushing after him, knowing that his teasing younger brother would definitely tell his friends a lie or joke in his expense.
When Adam reached the small huddle that Michael and Blake formed, he was suspicious to see them staring at him with equally playful eyes. He frowned and glared at both of them. “Whatever you two are planning, stop it.”
He sighed and pressed a finger along the temple of his forehead when the two just burst into giggles at his statement. He was afraid of this moment, when the two biggest idiots in his life would meet each other and throw chaos into Adam’s life.
“Obviously you two have gotten acquainted with each other already. Blake’s my boyfriend and Michael’s my brother.”
He looked up to receive shocked gazes from both Michael and Blake. Guess they didn’t know after all.
Michael was the first to break the silence and he eyed Blake up and down shamelessly, letting out a small whistle. “I’m jealous of you Adam, you got a cute one.” Adam let out a small groan and turned to apologize to Blake, but stopped when Blake just grinned back at Michael, just as bold.
“Are you sure you’re related to Adam? Someone as attractive as you, related to Adam, what are the odds of that?”
Adam reeled back, hurt overtaking him. He knew that he was being irrationally sensitive, but Blake’s comment hit him a little too close for comfort. Especially as all his life, he had been compared with Michael. His younger brother had always had the better grades, the better looks, more responsible, etc. He knew that and it all still stood true, the only difference being thank god that he didn’t have as much acne anymore.
Adam looked up and frowned slightly when he noticed that Blake didn’t seem to notice his little breakdown. One thing he prided about their relationship was how well they read each other and he was terrified to see that Michael had so easily broken that.
Thus, he plastered on a fake smile and forced himself to contribute to the conversation. He glanced away when he noticed that Michael was purposefully leaving Adam out of the conversation, while Blake, the oblivious giant, unintentionally ignored Adam, not realizing how this was affecting him.
He sighed and crossed his arms, pretending to listen to whatever the fuck Michael was spewing instead of staring at his hand which was getting a little bit too close to Blake’s thigh.
Blake threw his head back, laughing loudly. “You’re great Michael. Maybe we could be in a bromance instead of me and Adam. Yeah? We could be the new Shevine.”
That was it.
That was the final straw.
Adam narrowed his eyes in jealousy and turned abruptly, stomping angrily to his dressing room, not caring how childish he looked at the moment. He slammed the door and slid down, wrapping his arms around his knees, resting his head on top of them.
This was it. Blake would leave him. He knew that their relationship wasn’t going to last forever anyways, who would stick around and be with a fuck up like him? Everyone left him in a matter of time, especially after they met his perfect brother, Michael.
He sighed when he hurt soft knocking. “Adam? Are ya in there?” Adam scowled, “Do you want to talk to me now? Why don’t you just go and hang out with Michael?” He grinned slightly in triumph when he heard silence and he imagined Blake standing there with a look of stupefied hurt.
But it quickly gave way to sadness. He buried his head in his knees, blinking his eyes furiously to stop the tell tale tears that were filling up his eyes. The door opened quietly and he let Blake gather him up in a hug, wiping his tears away gently with his thumb.
Adam readily buried his face in Blake’s neck and gripped his shoulders. “Are you gonna leave me?” He flushed slightly when he unintentionally blurted that out. Oh well, there was no turning back now.
“W-what?”
Adam sat up and stared at Blake sadly. “People always leave me for Michael. And he’s gay too…you guys seem to like each other a lot.” Blake paused and shook his head vigorously, leaning down to peck Adam gently.
“No. Of course not, Adam. I know I flirt around with a lot of people, but you have to know that you’re the only one for me. Hell…I love you.” Adam blushed slightly, feeling ridiculous all of a sudden, but also cared for and protected. “I love you too dickhead.”
He sighed and leaned his head down against Blake’s shoulder, the other humming slightly. Michael may have taken many things that he wanted and gotten more attention than him, but he would never get Blake. He’d make sure of it.
