I wish we got more development of Astro’s friendgroup. Like I like all of them, I just wish they got to be more developed characters. I guess Kenichi does have his main character roles in Tezuka’s other work so I understand why he wasn’t given THAT much special focus in Astro Boy. But I really wish Tamao and Shibugaki got to be more than just kind of there most of the time. They’re likable and have their moments. But I feel like there could be so much more done with them. I remember watching the Denkou episode of 03’ and seeing the introduction of Tamao and assuming he would be way more important because they have such a spotlight to him meeting Astro. Like they made him a tech obsessed kid so I thought he’d get involved a lot with that stuff but he just doesn’t it’s so weird. It’s just, some of my favorite types of relationships and dynamics in media are the MC’s with their best friends, especially in shonen genre anime and manga. So I was disappointed they didn’t go all the way with them

btw i need to draw emo atom... i've been thinking about like. tamao dragging his friends into sharing his emo phase in middle/early high school

who's most likely to have an emo phase? my heart says tamao. who would fuck severely in alt clothes? KENICHI HANDS-DOWN

i imagine like, a band tamao likes is in town and they're all gonna go, and they decide to dress the part for fun. and atom and kenichi in particular are like oh this is actually super fun i might do this more often! kenichi does atom's makeup and tamao does his. someone gets fake piercings. reno and shibugaki just wear black band t shirts lol

looking at them, you can tell tammy is the only actual alt kid there & everyone else is just dressing up. but its still fun

Images from a cube puzzle, produced in 1984 by France Jouets. Each puzzle piece was a lightweight plastic cube with six decorated sides that could be assembled into a full-colour image. Most curiously, one of the sides - shown in image 8 - is of a robot dog and ship bridge that do not actually appear in Shin Tetsuwan Atom (1980).
