You anxiously paced around the house you’d been cleaning up all day. Roman was going to be back any second and you wanted everything to be perfect. You wanted to finally be able to sit down and enjoy dinner with him, listening to him talk about how much he loves his job and how much his fans mean to him. You wanted to see his eyes sparkle, you wanted to hear the passion in his voice. It made your heart full. You picked up a few more pillows the dogs had tossed to the floor and placed them perfectly on the couch, but you didn’t walk away until you stepped back and made sure they were placed within even spaces of each other. The whole welcoming him home in lingerie is fun, but as the years went by that seemed to be less important than talking and enjoying a nice meal while catching up. Now you settled for a tank top and some comfy sweats. He preferred you like that, anyways. You quickly re-did your messy bun before heading to the kitchen to check up on the pasta you were making for tonight. Your phone buzzed as you set the lid back down on the pot, causing you to turn your attention over to wherever the sound came from. You headed back to the living room and picked your phone up off the table, swiping and checking your messages. “Be home soon babe, love you,” was what he wrote. You smiled and responded with a few pink hearts before setting it back down on the table. There was something so genuine about him. You could imagine his smile as he sent the text and that alone made you so content with life. You relaxed for a bit with the dogs before heading back to the kitchen to start on a few salads you were planning on making. One might think that’s a little extra, but you loved cooking, especially for him. Once everything was ready you turned off the stove and set the salads in the fridge, deciding to take a quick nap before he got home.
You woke up to dogs barking and two strong arms wrapping around you as you stirred in your sleep and turned around to face him.
“Roman?” You questioned, a little smile forming on your face.
“No.” He smirked, a little laugh following soon after. “Yeah, babe, it’s me. Sleep well?” He questioned, pressing a soft kiss to your cheek. You blushed before gently cupping his face in your tiny hands.
“Yeah… I’ve missed you.” You whispered, looking into his eyes.
“I’ve missed you too, beautiful. House smells good.” He laughed, leaning in to give you a quick kiss.
“I made pasta. And a few different salads. I wouldn’t sleep if I knew you’d get home so quick.” You giggled, giving him one last kiss before sitting up. “C’mon, let’s go eat. I’m starving and I’m sure you are, too.”
He didn’t hesitate and nodded in agreement, following you into the kitchen. You set the table as quickly as you could, making sure to kiss his cheek as you leaned over to set his plate down in front of him.
“Give it a few minutes to warm up.” You smiled, setting the wine down on the table along with two glasses as you sat down across from him.
“I missed your face.” He spoke softly, his eyes never leaving you.
“Stop!” You giggled, leaning over the table a bit. You both loved and hated it when he did that. You felt special and beautiful, but a little part of you felt a little bit insecure when he stared at you. He’s so perfect and sometimes you wonder why he picked you.
“No, I won’t. You stop.” He laughed, shaking his head in disbelief as you told him to stop looking at you for maybe the millionth time.
“No.” You smiled, getting up to go grab the pot and bring it over to the table. “It’s hot, be careful.” You warned him, taking the lid off and setting the large spoon down in the pot.
About fifteen minutes had gone by as you two were enjoying dinner. It was all laughs and smiles and it was these moments that you lived for. You had finished eating way before him, although you both didn’t share the same definition of ‘finished.’ There would always be a bunch of food left on your plate compared to the crystal clean plate he would leave.
“Don’t feel like drinking?” He asked you, motioning to your full, untouched glass of wine.
“I will in a bit.” You smiled, playing with your engagement ring. He nodded as he continued to eat, his attention completely directed towards the food.
“Hey, babe.” You giggled, chucking a piece of the pasta at him.
“Hey!” He laughed, not surprised by your childlike tendencies at times before picking the piece of pasta up and eating it.
“Of course you ate it.” You smiled, shaking your head.
Roman would never let food go to waste.
“Wanna know something?” You spoke softly, looking over at him before reconsidering whether it was the perfect time to tell him or not. Your gut told you to just go with it, though.
“What is it?” He asked, taking a few sips of his wine.
“I’m gonna have my wine in nine months.” You giggled, biting your lip as you waited for him to process what you just said.
“What? Why? Wait.. No.. Really?” He choked out, a mix of shock and happiness.
“Mhm. That’s why I haven’t touched it all night. I just didn’t want you to get suspicious from the start, you know how much I love my wine.” You smiled, looking into his eyes.
“Baby, that’s… unbelievable.” He beamed, getting up and quickly walking over to you. He lifted you up into his arms and gently spun you around a few times, leaving tons of kisses all across your face.
“I love you, I love you, I love you.” He continued, holding onto you tightly.
“I love you, too, handsome.” You spoke softly, wrapping your arms around his neck. “You’re going to be the most amazing daddy, ever.”
