I have watched only 10 minutes of Loki, and I am already DESPERATE for a Loki/Umbrella Academy crossover. The 50s bureaucratic aesthetic? The weirdly banging underscoring? The massive potential for multiversal insanity? Let the Hargreeves kids gang up on 2012 Loki and roast him into an early grave. Let them absolutely DUNK on him.

☕️prequals, sequels or originals and why??

I'm an original trilogy girl because that's what got me into Star Wars, but nothing - nothing - beats the prequel trilogy for memes and AUs. I loved The Force Awakens because Finn AS HE WAS ORIGINALLY INTENDED was amazing and the joy spilling off John Boyega and Oscar Isaacs was infectious. TLJ and RoS are expensive fanfictions fueled by greed, sexism, and a shit ton of racism, and I reject them as Star Wars canon. There is only the one sequel movie, so no talking about it in the plural.

I do!! Most are unfinished, but I had so much fun editing the Thom one for publication I could definitely be induced to work on and share more. I can make an AO3 work and start putting pieces together if you'd like? They need a lot of work, but honestly I just need the catalyst start expanding them, I've already got the ideas and the structure.

Okay Mr. Iglesias is The Office but for teachers

I SAID IT AND I MEANT IT

95% of the cast is not white

There’s an episode on student athletes

Lots of time dwelling on and advocating for how students’ tough situations impedes their participation

Half the kids come from single-parent families (As well as Mr Iglesias himself!)

And one kid’s working three jobs to support her family while staying in school

Sooooo much Latinx representation

Seriously, a whole episode focused on the difference between ‘Latinx’ and ‘Latino’

Two Latina characters, one major and one minor, each intimidating/awe-inspiring for very different reasons

Five Latino teachers, three major and two minor

All 7 of whom have different backgrounds and are really unique people

Teachers staying because they care about their students

And they want their students to see more in themselves

An episode on bullying and administrative handling of it

The chillest look at the reality of AA

Literally the show’s so chill

Teachers need to watch it not because it’s accurate to reality but because it has enough of reality that you can connect with it and LAUGH AT IT

Casual racism is presented as so cringeworthy

Like it’s NOT COOL and people who spout it get called on it

Same with casual sexism

There’s not as much, but it gets handled as the fighting words it is

Racial stereotypes get CALLED THE FUCK OUT

Not happy about their handling of social anxiety (solved by the Right Cause To Speak About), but in the grand scheme of things, this show is really good. Definitely recommend for anyone wanting to celebrate representation.

1. Jedi or Sith?

Jedi. 100%, 24/7, no question in my mind or soul.

3. Favorite character from Prequels?

Padme Amidala. George Lucas did her SO MUCH WRONG and Dave Filoni's treatment of her is the only reason I haven't yet gone apeshit. This badass teenager becomes an even more badass woman and Lucas blows it on childbirth?! What the everloving fuck, GEORGE. This woman has all the training of a spy, a diplomat, and a world leader: she was mentored by the dude who pulled off the biggest coup in galactic history, for heaven's sake. She's like if you fused James Bond, M, and Black Widow, gave her a million kickass space spy weapons, and then replaced her with a mannequin halfway through the movie. What. The. Fuck.

I'm definitely graffitiing, "She should have had some goddamn agency, George," on his tombstone.

8. Weapon of choice?

Can I say an X-wing? I want to fly an X-wing. I even have a Poe Dameron-esque, windswept curls haircut to match now lol.

For you and the anon who asked so nicely!! 5 things I love unconditionally:

1. My siblings. These 4 shits are my favorite and I am happiest when I'm with them. The only reason they're not #1-4 is that I want to talk about other things that aren't how much I love them and miss them cause we all live apart.

2. Lord of the Rings, books and movies. I've read the books straight through about once a year since I was ten (more when I was younger and blowing through books faster than I could find new ones), and my love, appreciation, and admiration for them has matured as I have. I have issues with the movies' portrayal of Aragorn, but other than that, the movies are also works of art and I cry every damn time I watch them.

3. My dog/dogs in general. We don't deserve dogs but damn their unconditional love and trust and joy is the greatest gift we've ever been given. And my dog is cute and smart AF and cuddling with her makes me really believe everything will be okay.

4. Orthodoxy. Whatever the atheist trolls of the internet say, I love my faith and my people and the hope and trust and faith I'm called to have. Because even if God isn't real and this is all a scam, it's still the way I want to live - with joy and humility and love.

5. Swansea, Wales. I spent the first three and a half years of my life living there and after visiting again this spring, I realized how much I missed it. The people are so friendly and the city and the bay are so pretty and it just feels like home.
