Anti-Shifters are truly uneducated...
As you know, Shiftok is the bane of my existence (and not the object of my desires AT ALL), and recently the algorithm decided to bless me with videos about age changing in shifting. At this point, I won't rehash my entire stance on the topic .Gods know how much content I've already posted. I'll make a masterlist eventually so you can find everything in one place (if my ADHD will fucking let me, that is). But THEN… I stumbled across an anti-shifter's take on age changing. Oh boy. Oh boy.
Look, the shifting community itself is already messy when it comes to age changing. A lot of people struggle to understand:
The mechanics of shifting (embodiment, consciousness alignment, how DRs work)
The subjectivity of morality across infinite realities
Intent and context behind why someone would shift to a different age
It's chaotic, sure. But at least within the community, there's potential for education and nuance. Anti-shifters? That's a whole other level. Combine their complete lack of knowledge about shifting with an active refusal to learn, and you get the most braindead takes imaginable.
The specific case: a 35-year-old woman shifting to be 14 So this anti-shifter got wind of a 35-year-old woman who shifts to Hogwarts as a 14-year-old to date Draco Malfoy. And predictably, they lost their shit. Here's the thing: I'm not passing judgment on her because I don't know her story.
Maybe she had a crush on Draco when she was 14 and has been dreaming about this since the early 2000s when the books/movies came out. Maybe she's reminiscing about who she was at that age, or fulfilling a childhood dream she had a long time ago. Maybe she discovered shifting recently and realized, "holy shit, I can finally do this."
And honestly? That's beautiful. Because it reminds me that not everyone discovered shifting in their youth. Some people found it in their 30s, 40s, or later. And we shouldn't judge someone immediately just because the premise sounds off at first glance.
Yes, "35-year-old woman shifting to be 14 to date a 14-year-old" sounds questionable on the surface. I get why people's alarm bells go off. But context matters. Intent matters. The Harry Potter franchise is from the 90s this woman could've been Draco's age or younger when she first fell in love with that world and by by extension. She's not some predator seeking out minors; she's revisiting a formative part of her own adolescence.
(And just to be crystal clear: I am not defending actual predatory behavior. I'm talking about embodiment-based shifting where someone becomes their DR age fully. If you don't understand the difference, read my other posts.)
But this anti-shifter? They don't believe in shifting at all. They kept calling DRs "shifting realms" (???) and said shit like, "instead of being 14 and dating a 14-year-old, I'd just shift to a reality where I have everything I want ."And then proceeded to call the woman a "pedo weirdo predator." Like… babe. Bestie. Honey. You don't understand how shifting works. You're not interested in understanding how shifting works. You don't even acknowledge that people have different reasons and intentions for the DRs they choose. And yet you feel qualified to judge? To throw around words like "predator" without knowing a single thing about this person's life, trauma, or intent? The audacity. The lack of education. The sheer stubbornness. Anti-shifters really think they can sit on their high horse, dismiss an entire metaphysical practice, and still act like the authority on what's "creepy" or not. It's giving ignorance with confidence.
Honestly, I'm writing this just to vent. To remind everyone and myself that anti-shifters are fundamentally uneducated and unwilling to learn. And when it comes to "controversial" topics in the shifting community like age changing, their takes become even more unhinged because they refuse to engage with the actual mechanics, ethics, or human stories behind the practice.
We cannot pass judgment on people without at least trying to understand them. That doesn't mean excusing genuinely harmful behavior. It means recognizing that not everything that makes you uncomfortable is automatically predatory.
Sometimes discomfort just means you've never had to need what someone else is seeking.
TL;DR: Anti-shifters remain ignorant, stubborn, and reactionary. We can't pass judgment on shifters without understanding their context, intent, and the mechanics of the practice. Nuance matters. Education matters. And if you're not willing to learn, maybe shut the fuck up.
