I was trying to figure out who else I wanted to ship Shigeru with and although it started off as a joke, I low-key like it lol don't worry, Shigeru let him go after this (then obanai got mad he got put down-)

Born human and turned later in life, Shigeru was born to 2 struggling musicians in the entertainment district. Neither of his parents wanted him, his father abandoned them and his mother took out her pain and anger on him. He learned to stay out of their way. Finally, once he turned 15, he left home to become a swordsman since he had seen demon slayers in the outskirts of the entertainment district, going after some demons, and he got inspired (it also helped that he just wanted any excuse to leave home and his mom barely noticed his absence.). He managed to get an endorsement from a retired mist hashira that lived near the area to work under Urokodaki, Shigeru deeply impressed her with his mist breathing. He worked under Urokodaki about the same time giyu did, as well as sabito and makomo and, even though he was a bit older, he was still learning how to stave off his timid and scared nature. His work caught up in the end and he earned his warding mask. Urokodaki had every intention of suggesting him to work further with the retired mist hashira but wanted him to focus on final selection first. However, Shigeru got sick a bit before so sabito, makomo and giyu went ahead towards final selection and, after being mostly better, Shigeru left out alone to hopefully catch up about a day later.
This day, and not fully healing from his illness, made all the difference as he was kidnapped on his way there. Not by demons, but by humans, who thought he was a pretty boy and dragged him back to the entertainment district. There, he was forced to work as a kagema, a male prostitute (obviously not consentually) and worked under his mistress, Lady Seiko. He was beaten and starved into submission and slowly fell into his duties, just trying to survive and tried to get close to Lady Seiko with the hopes of improving his stature. It worked and he quickly became her favorite. 2 years into this slavery, Lady Seiko revealed herself as a demon to Shigeru and, groomed from years of starvation, abuse and desperation, he hardly had the will and physically strength to fight back when she turned him into a demon. This was done under the allowance of Muzan because he'd hope demon blood would allow him to return to Urokodaki and kill him in an emotional state.
This transformation revealed his demon blood art and, due to his servitude to Lady Seiko, she was able to harness portions of it as well. His blood demon art is called Turn Key where, if Lady Seiko is able to stick one of her nails into the keyhole in his throat, she can change the properties of Shigeru in just a few minutes. In it, she can choose whether Shigeru is fully human, fully demon or abit of both (with his split face). However, there is a few draw backs... One is that all of Shigeru's memories were erased once he was turned into a demon and Lady Seiko fed him some story about how his dad was a struggling Kabuki actor and sold Shigeru to her and she saved him despite how disgusting he had become from life on the street (to further his devotion to her). She also convinced him his name was Hamataro. Another is that Everytime the key is turned, he must go through a couple minutes process of extreme pain and agony, the same agony every human has to go through to become a demon and it obviously incapacitates him. Even while human he can't enter the sun without experiencing the same burns demons do, just a lot slower. He's able to be in sunlight however, as long as he's either human, half and half or his blended form (the one with the facial markings but human skin tone that he doesn't achieve until much later-), as long as he wears the mask Urokodaki made him (it's theorized that it's trying to protect his humanity and thus protects all of him). His half and half form is also battle-wise useless other than to punish him just due to the fact it traps him in his incredibly painful mid transformation stage. The full demon form is the only one Lady Seiko uses while eating and battling and that's because that form is basically feral, and therefore doesn't listen to her exactly, and constantly stuck in that frenzied intense hunger new demons have. However, despite this, Shigeru has never eaten a human, not necessarily at least. He, like all demons, needs blood to survive, but Lady Seiko keeps in a constant state of hunger to further control him, only giving him a bit of human blood every now and then. There's also one downside to his full demon form in that he's not focused, just constantly running and destroying things. He'll find a human, start to attack them, wound them abit then see another human and start running after them before completing the kill. Great for Lady Seiko to be able to lazily get meals, bad for actually killing humans.
Their story, in how it'd fit into the canonical demon slayer timeline, would be kind of a precursor to daki and gyutaro. A small fight a couple months earlier as Lady Seiko and Shigeru have no placing in the 12 kizuki. It could be a fight that puts tengen on guard, say Seiko mentioned other demons before being killed or maybe it took place before the train arc and afterwards they have to come back for daki. Either way, includes the trio and Nezuko and tengen fighting and killing Lady Seiko and tieing up Shigeru. They question him about the mask, as he's stuck on half and half and the "Oni form" (full demon) isn't exactly capable of complex thought or conversation beyond single words. Hes barely able to beg them to put his mask on him before the sun rises to prevent his death in the destroyed building their in. Tengen orders Tanjiro and Nezuko to take Shigeru to Urokodaki while he takes zenitsu and Inosuke to the butterfly mansion for healing.
Shigeru has a lot of opinions about it but is promptly ignored and shoved in a basket ala season 1 Nezuko and carried off. They take his mask too to prevent him from escaping while they walk during the day. Finally, by nightfall, they reach Urokodaki's house and present the situation in the fullest way but it's only when Urokodaki hears Shigeru's voice dose he believe them because he " never had a student named Hamataro". Shigeru is out Infront of him, while tied up, and asked where he got the mask. Shigeru says his dad gave him it and when Urokodaki says his full name, he asserts his name is Hamataro, not Shigeru, and he doesn't know who he (Urokodaki) is. Although Urokodaki doesn't show it, he's both happy to see Shigeru still alive (as he became worried and more unsure of training others once he heard even the slightly older than average good fighter Shigeru never even made it to final selection) but his former student was now some demon hybrid. He tried something a bit dangerous that became both useful information and nearly deadly, trying to both ease the pain Shigeru had been stuck in in his half and half form and turn him back to his (mostly) human form. He tried to put Tanjiro's blade into the keyhole in Shigeru's throat and turn it right to turn him back to human. It worked.... Then he started to bleed out since him being 75% human and 25% demon meant his regeneration was significantly slower and he would probably be 100% fucked. Nezuko tried using her blood demon art to either heal him or at least maybe cure him of his demonness before death and it resulted in the blended form.
They let him relax after this and Urokodaki sent Tanjiro on his way, intending on helping Shigeru reclaim his humanity, his skills and his memories and that's about where canonality stops. He dose eventually re-enter the demon slayer corp but he never truly regains his memories prior to his abduction. He's a demon slayer in the same way that Nezuko is, in that he isn't but he's a close enough ally to count. Giyu has another depresso expresso experience upon seeing Shigeru again and learning he doesn't remember him nor makomo or sabito. He works a little with tengen as, due to his work, he's a figurative and literal demon on the shamisen and likes using sound breathing abilities but he doesn't hang around much. He's very fluid when it comes to current location and barely dose what he's told. His true personality only comes out around now and he becomes a bit of a fake womanizer, having the stereotypical bard personality, proud and charismatic, even if it's very easy to fluster him and bring out his more timid side from when he was human. He eventually allows the swordsmiths to work on his shamisen and they add a large battle axe like blade to the base so he can swing it using the neck as a handle (very marcilene now that I think about it lol) and behead other demons and they make him a non-sharp key made of the same material as nichirin swords so he's able to switch forms at will with a lot more control. (Still figuring out Oni though-)
As for ships, I'm still sort of figuring him out but I do honestly mostly just ship him with Shinobu. He just seems to find himself at the butterfly mansion a lot. He likes to sing and play and keep up the spirits of the healing slayers, he needs help when he gets injured too since his regeneration is only a bit better than a humans and Shinobu likes to use him and his demon blood to test poisons in small doses. Hes a little bit of a masochist and, thanks to Lady Seiko, ended up kinda having a thing for teasing dominating women so he lets her... Despite the occasional agony. Their relationship is REALLY slow burn and initially shinobu allows his presence but hates him genuinely but he eventually wins her over after 2 or 3 solo missions, even though she ends up having to be the one to not so subtly ask him out. A time when she dropped her Haori mid battle and he picked it up with a clean garment between it and his hands because he " didn't think she'd want another demon's hands to ever touch this Haori again" definitely helped. He's very respectful and is very used to people hating him and being suspicious of him because he's partially a demon so him taking it as slow as her helps a lot. She definitely says stuff about how she loves him dearly but the second he hurts a human his head won't be attached anymore both terrify and slightly excite him. He got so fuckin whipped so fast lol he's also occasionally worked with lady tamayo to hopefully also remove muzan's influence over him.
