Cloud Watching, Upgraded || @usagi-nin
They’d barely made it five minutes under the stars before Usagi shifted closer, elbowing his side on purpose.
“You’re staring awfully hard” she said. “planning something?”
Shikamaru hummed, eyes still on the sky as he leaned down to steal a quick kiss from the corner of her mouth. “Just calculating odds. Statistically speaking, if I kiss you again you’ll stop fidgeting.” Another kiss followed —slower this time, deliberate. “See? Immediate results.”
She laughed against his lips, tilting her head so he had to work for the next one. “You use math for everything.”
“Only important things” he replied, brushing his nose against hers. “Like this.” He kissed her again, longer, unhurried, until she melted comfortably against his chest. “and making sure you stay right here.”
Usagi traced lazy circles over his heart, eyes drifting back to the stars. “You know,” she said softly, “this is surprisingly romantic for someone who complains about effort.”
“Tch,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to her temple, then her cheek, then finally her lips again like he was proving a point. “I never said I hated effort. Just unnecessary effort.” his arm tightened around her, voice lowering. “You’re not unnecessary.”
She smiled up at him, glowing brighter than anything overhead, and Shikamaru figured —very calmly, very logically— that the universe could keep its stars. He already had his favorite one right there in his

Whatchu got there, Shika?
@kagemaneking
Good Morning~ 🐰🐰
Usagi stirred first, shifting against the warmth beneath her. The world was still dim, soft with early light slipping through Shikamaru’s curtains. She blinked slowly, realizing her head was resting on his chest, his arm heavy and warm around her waist like it had always belonged there.
Before she could move, his voice came—low, rough from sleep, and far too confident for this hour.
“Morning, Usagi.”
She lifted her head a little, only to find him already looking at her with that slow, lazy smirk he wore when he knew he had the upper hand. His hair was a mess, his voice deep, and his hand… very intentionally still holding her close.
“You sleep pretty comfortably on top of me,” he murmured, amusement glinting in his half-lidded eyes. “Should I take that as a compliment?”
Usagi flushed, mumbling something unintelligible. Shikamaru chuckled—quiet, but undeniably pleased.
“I mean, I’m not complaining,” he went on, his thumb brushing a lazy circle at her hip as if he hadn’t even realized he was doing it. “Warm, soft… kinda hard to fall asleep any other way now.”
Her breath caught, and he definitely noticed.
He always noticed.
He shifted just enough so he could see her face more clearly, his expression softening, then focusing on her like she was a puzzle he enjoyed solving.
“You look cute in the morning,” he said simply. Boldly. “Too cute, actually. Makes it real tempting to make this a habit.”
Her eyes widened, and Shikamaru raised a brow, almost daring her to react.
“What?” he teased, voice low. “You fall asleep on my couch, use me as a pillow, and expect me not to say anything?”
He leaned in, his forehead brushing hers—barely there, but intentional.
“Next time,” he murmured, “we should just watch the movie in my room. More space… fewer excuses to pretend this is an accident.”
Her heartbeat practically echoed in the quiet living room.
Shikamaru’s smirk softened into something warmer, deeper.
“Good morning,” he said again, thumb brushing her cheek now. “Stay for a bit. I’m not ready to let go yet.”
And the way he held her—all calm confidence and quiet affection—made it very clear…
He didn’t want her to go. Not now.
Maybe not ever.

Shikamaru huffed a quiet laugh through his nose, watching her try to disappear into her sleeves.
“Yeah… real sneaky,” he muttered, tone lazy but warm. “You practically broadcast it. Whole posture changes. You stop breathing normally. Eyes do that quick little panic dart like you’re checking if I noticed.”
He tilted his head slightly, studying her over the edge of his half-lidded gaze.
“But I don’t mind,” he added, softer now. “And for the record, I only said it was cute because it is. Not everything has to be some big weakness you need to fix.”
