It doesnt make people feel more trapped? It sounds very claustrophobic.

It definitely can feel claustrophobic but the idea is containment, they can't have people running around the unit, freaking out. They usually put a staff at the door to make sure you're not hurting yourself, but it gives you a chance to have external stimuli be mostly nonexistant and hopefully helps you to calm down. It doesn't work for everyone.

What is the quiet room?

It's a room for people who are acting out or just need a place to calm down. Like I wasn't being violent or anything, just extremely anxious. The quiet room in Proctor 2 literally just has one bed in the middle of the room and nothing else.

Hey Ginny, I struggled in reading your dad's email. I think, if I were to receive that email, I would know the person meant well, but I would also feel awful. Those words would just bring me guilt and exacerbate my negative feelings. I think your father is eloquent in his wording and obviously he says what he does because he cares SO much for you, but I do feel that it is hurtful to bring up Ellie. OR, it isn't fair. I wish you the best because you deserve it.
