If the Sword Master is Chihiro's mother
I have this crack theory that the Sword Master is female and Chihiro's mother.
In my headcanon, she was this stoic, legendary swordswoman who, because of her fame and personality, everyone was afraid to approach. Everyone except for Kunishige, who would do goofy things around her in the vain attempt to make her laugh. She actually found them funny, but had too much dignity to laugh.
Then one day, Kunishige finds her at her garden. The Sword Master cherishes her garden because it shows that her hands can also bring forth life, not just take it away. Kunishige also confesses that he's horrified by what his (normal for now) swords have done. Their mutual vulnerabilities lead to them growing closer together. It also leads Kunishige to an idea: a sword that can produce life and death together. One that won't just be dedicated to killing people but cultivating life. One that will literally grow a garden out of the bodies of the fallen. One based on the duality of his true love, the Sword Master. Thus, Magatsumi is created specifically for her.
As the Seitei War starts and wages on, Kunishige continues to create other Enchanted blades to turn the tide in their favor. The Sword Master discovers she's pregnant with Chihiro sometime during the war, but continues to fight until it's time to give birth to him, with no one being any wiser.
As much as she loves her son and husband, however, the war ends up changing her, becoming extremely nihilistic and misanthropic. It's humanity's fault that the world is as cruel as it is: the swordsmen, the swordsmiths, the government that orders them, and the people whom they protect. If there were no more humans, then there would be no more war, only beautiful fields of flowers growing from their corpses.
Naturally, of course, she can't be allowed to do that, so she's captured and imprisoned with the help of the other sword bearers and Kunishige. Kunishige, however, mourns what happened to his beloved, especially since there is so much of Chihiro in her that it's painful to look at him at times. It's also leads to his caginess about Magatsumi in particular.
Only those closest to Kunishige and the Sword Master knew about their relationship. Now since the Kamunabi have Chihiro's DNA, however, a lot more are going to find out.
(Of course, this crack theory is a moot point if the Sword Master is refer to as male in the original Japanese).
If you told me that this guy is the manefistation of the Devil, I would believe you.
So basically kunishige forged the one ring but sword shaped alright
