OMG Shiny has a new icon! :) 💗💗💗

I do! I just.... the tenth anniversary of sherlock made me unexpectedly thoughtful and I realized that having John in my icon didn’t really apply now, at least not the way it used to. John Watson will always be my catnip, but I don’t post about Sherlock hardly at all anymore. So I said, okay, how about just the heart then? And then I made it a pink moon heart, because why not. :) Thanks for noticing!! <3

OMG I JUST TYPED SUCH LONG ANSWERS AND TUMBLR ATE IT. *glares*

hydrangea: what inspired you to begin writing in the first place? I’m not sure? I’ve been writing stories since at least 3rd grade, fanfic since 5th grade, and just always have so many ideas. It was a long time before I FINISHED things. So many BEGINNINGS of stories.

lavender: what is the most important thing to you as a writer? Characterization. Always. Characterization should never be sacrificed for plot.

petunia: who is your favorite character to write for? why? In Sherlock, John and Molly. John because he’s so incredibly un-self-aware in some ways, and that’s fun to play with. And Molly because we get just enough canon to get a sense of her, but enough wiggle room to create our own versions of her. Same in MCU with Steve and Natasha—Steve needs to discover some things about himself and our glimpses of Natasha allow me to really craft her as I see her.

sunflower: what is the best feedback/compliment you’ve ever received regarding your writing? Oh gosh, I have been very lucky to get lots of amazing feedback. I swoon anytime someone compliments my characterization, of course. Or whenever someone says the sex scenes or action scenes are good are good, because those are both still challenging to write! But I also love when readers say the fic helped them in some way or made them think or hit them in the feels.

rose: which of your works is your favorite? why? Hmmm. The one I’m currently working on is usually my favorite! (Right now it’s a couple of BTS-related WIPs). Of the completed things??? Um…. I’m proud of the ones that were bears to write, just because they were so complicated or challenging, so The Curious Adventure of the Drs. Watson (BBC/ACD crossover) and Shadow and Light (Sherlock/Firefly crossover) are the first two that come to mind. I’m proud of And Not Or because it was important to me to write asexual Sherlock for various reasons and many people connected with it and that it is amazing to me. I also like the short, poetry-ish ones because they are completely different from the longfics, and tap into a very different part of my writerly brain, ones like Latitude and Longitude and Mars in Retrograde.

L. favourite fic of yours?

Oh, man, this is the impossible question! But I love the one I’m working on right now, even though it’s hardly perfect, because it’s just self-indulgent fun and I’m not even sure I’ll post it, I’m just enjoying it; and I love the one Armada and I just wrote last night because it was such fun to be writing with her again! 

X. give a summary of your current project!

It is.... band RPF? Which I haven’t written since I was literally a kid (and if you want to see the outline of that particular masterpiece, I posted here about it).  And I feel a little weird about posting this new one because there’s so much drama/controversy over RPF sometimes, so for now I’m just writing it entirely to please myself, which is actually quite freeing.

--mr. shiny finally started playing zelda: botw and he’s sticking with it and  i’m proud of him (he usually gives up on video games right away)

25. Do you prefer to use pen or pencil?

I like both! For drawing I prefer pencil because eraser, but also because I’m just more comfy doing shading and stuff with graphite than ink. For writing, I really like your basic Ticonderoga #2 a lot, but I am a sucker for new or cute pens and have way, way, way more pens than any one person would ever need.

50. Invent your own word. What does it mean?

“Chickapea”: Term of endearment. This is a word that came out of my mouth when I tried to say “chicken” but then my brain switched to “sweet pea”, so now I call my kids “chickapea”.

Yep! This happens almost every time I’m trying to reverse engineer something. Next project I will pick something where the color is super easy to match!
