Moira cursed inwardly as she walked alongside the dark path. She knew it was a bad idea the moment she began walking down this path, everything told her to turn back and abandon this idea, but by the time she decided to turn back, she was already too deep in the dark forest to go back the way she came from. Stupid car ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere ( perhaps that was her fault for not keeping an eye on the meter but this is a problem for another time ) with no signal on her phone ( she sent, or tried to send, a couple of text messages explaining her situation ) but sitting in the car in the middle of an empty dark road was slowly but gradually filling her with panic. Hence, she opted to leave the car and try and find a place, ANY place she can find that would ease the rapid beating of her heart. Her phone was of no much help, but the luminous screen did offer a flimsy comfort as the young woman walked down the unknown path.

She was either going crazy or being perceptive, she didn’t like either of these options, but there was ANOTHER set of footsteps in the vicinity.
