A small shrine on Mount Kōya (高野山) at the tomb of the monk Shinzen (真然) (804-891): nephew, disciple, and successor of the Shingon founder Kūkai (空海) a.k.a. Kōbō Daishi (弘法大師), known especially for completing work establishing the temple complex here after his master’s passing

Built in 1640, repaired 1988-1989 for the 1100th anniversary of Shinzen’s death
