🤔 Are there any new characters you want to write about?
Hey @superpixie42 !
I'm actually getting ready to write about Shiori, and her parents in How Does Your Garden Grow? soon and I'm looking forward to the challenge. Tsukuyomaru and Shizu, like Touga and Izayoi, don't get much backstory or screen time in the anime/manga so they're kind of wide open for writing their personalities and their relationship. Granted, this is an AU, but I want to try to make them true to their originals if possible.
For @onikik who I love more than life itself because she made me like incredibly emotional and I just can’t okay. Also, Michelle, I was listening to this as I wrote so... blame the ending on that.
Pairing: Batparents
Word Count: 640
Her name was Shizu, and she had everything.
She wasn’t entirely sure when it had happened. When the mysterious man who guarded the bat-demon barrier had become hers.
When glistening hair and sharp claws had become his adornments, things that branded him as other had become things that branded him as hers. He was no ordinary man. He was Tsukuyomaru. Shizu’s Tsukuyomaru.
She knew that his father was disapproving, his clan unwelcoming, but when she found herself in his arms, wrapped so tightly in him that she couldn’t tell where she ended and where he began, it was only too easy to forget all of that.
When she was with him, she was a woman, and he a man. They were in love, the most pure feeling in the world, unaffected by any of the differences that spanned between them. She knew that he would move heaven and earth to find his way to her, and sometimes she would lie awake at night and pray that he knew she would do the same. If he could even begin to understand the love she had in her heart for him.
“You’re human, my darling.” He had crooned to her one night, lying under the stars with her held against his heart, the steady beating lulling her into security. “But I? I have lived a life far longer than you can imagine. And in that lifetime, I have loved only you.”
She had laughed softly, resting her chin on his broad chest to look up at him, admiring the way the moonlight caught the unique lavender of his eyes.
“You’re demon, my darling.” Shizu whispered back, “And in my short life, I have thrown away my relationship with all of society to come to you. Humans are ruled by their emotions, and I? I have given you my entire heart and soul.”
He had gathered her in his arms then, pulled her closer than she had thought possible, and when his lips brushed over hers, she smiled, delving her fingers into the silken mass of his hair and drawing him into her.
She couldn’t remember ever having been so happy in her life. She had a man that others could only dream of, and he was entirely hers. And when she realized she was with child? That there would now be a tiny being, made of the best parts of Tsukuyomaru and herself, that would be a testament to a love that defied all the norms of society? This child would be their blessing, their gift to each other.
When Shiori was born, she thought she had everything. Tsukuyomaru had given her love, safety, and now this beautiful child. Shizu couldn’t imagine her life without him, and knew that even if he were to leave her tomorrow, she would spend her entire life grateful to him for loving her as he had, for showing her what love was, and what love could be.
What she hadn’t considered was that when one had everything, there was only too much to be lost. She didn’t think it was possible when she first heard the news. He was simply stuck on an errand at home, it was taking him slightly longer than usual to return to them. To his family. He couldn’t have - no.
Days turned to weeks. Weeks turned to months. And it was one rainy night when the thunder rumbled around her, and lightning lit their once well kept home, that she realized that he was never coming back. When she yearned for him to hide her in his strong arms, whisper that she was safe and loved and found the bed beside her empty, cold and made up. Unused. As it had been for months before. Her love, her Tsukuyomaru had left her.
A treat for @inusecretsanta for the ship Batparents and the prompt “Modern AU” For my one and only love @inusmasha! HAPPY HOLIDAYS BOO, I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the @shioriparents URL im so glad I gave it to you.
*Sorry it’s so short, I just started it a few hours ago!**
Prompt: Batparents - Modern AU
Pairing: Batparents, believe it or not
Summary: What do you call a black sheep in a family of already black bats? To be completely honest, Shizu doesn’t give a fuck.
Enjoy!
There was something to be said about a morally righteous career criminal. The combination was an oxymoron in itself, but it got even more convoluted when a third identifier was tossed into the mix. A morally righteous bat-demon career criminal.
As if a morally righteous criminal wasn’t ridiculous enough, he was a demon on top of that.
Tsukuyomaru.
That was what he had said his name was. Well, Shizu wasn’t particularly bothered whether his name was Tsukuyomaru or that crazy freak from the Dog family Sesshomaru, a criminal was a criminal and she refused to associate with one.
No matter how attractive he was. Never mind that his hair was so shiny she had a feeling he could deflect traffic on a dark night, or that his eyes were the most captivating shade of lavender she’d ever seen, or that he was tall and muscled in a way that screamed ‘Mills and Boon romance novel.’
Not that she had been... staring or ... anything like that.
It had been pure coincidence that she had ended up on the wrong side of town that night, which incidentally ended up being his side of town, and that he had come to her aid against some not so nice looking men with some not so small looking weapons.
Well it was the least he could do considering it was his family who had attacked her to begin with!
‘And it was equally coincidental that he just continuously ended up in your area after that, right?’ an angry voice in her head piped up and Shizu growled irately, slamming her hands down on the counter in front of her. The receptionist glanced up at her in trepidation and she plastered a fake smile on her features as she retreated back into her office, staring at the numbers on the spreadsheet in front of her.
Every couple of moments her eyes would flick back up to the clock on the wall, hoping beyond hope that it would suddenly be lunch time and she could run across the street to grab something small from the coffee shop there.
The clock seemed to have been frozen at 11:45 for the past half an hour when it happened.
There was a knock at her door, and she glanced up to see him standing there, looking sheepish with his hands stuffed into the pockets of an expensive looking trench coat.
Tsukuyomaru.
“Shizu, hi!”
Ugh, god, his voice was nicer than she remembered. Stupid good looking batman.
“I never said you could call me that.” She hoped her tone was as stiff as she wanted it to be, and didn’t betray the way her heart was thudding unevenly.
“Well you didn’t give me anything else to call you either.” He said matter of factly, his more confident strides into her office proving that he did have some idea of the effect his presence was having on her.
The stapler sitting in the corner of her desk was looking more and more like a weapon of mass destruction that she could use to bludgeon him with.
“And yet that didn’t clue you in to the fact that maybe I don’t want you calling me anything at all.”
He arched a single brow in response to her dry tone, a smile tugging at one corner of his mouth.
“Ah, so you’re a non-verbal communicator.”
She knew he was baiting her, deliberately misunderstanding her. She wasn’t going to respond, she wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of knowing that he had gotten to her. She -
“For fuck’s sake, what do you want?”
There was no mistaking the grin on his face now.
“Actually I came here for…um… accounting advice.”
She stared at him for a long moment, the urge to use her stapler as a baseball bat growing stronger by the minute.
“Accounting advice.” She asked flatly.
Tsukuyomaru nodded quickly, his eyes trained on the expense spreadsheet strewn across her desk in front of her.
“What am I supposed to do with any of your money? I’m a small business accountant. Are you really telling me you don’t have anyone to do that for you?”
Shizu delighted in the awkwardness on his face and wondered what kind of explanation he’d come up with for it. She hated to admit it, even to herself, but she enjoyed his wit.
“I have loads of men to do it for me,” he began finally, hesitantly at first. “This time I was hoping for a woman’s touch.”
Her mind went completely blank for a moment realizing that he had seriously come here specifically looking for her. But why? Why would someone like him - handsome, wealthy, and immortal, have any sort of interest in her?
“In fact, I was hoping we could maybe discuss it over lunch?”
His eyes were hopeful and her heart was thudding erratically. This was the moment of truth. There was so much to consider. His profession, his family, his bloodline. His father would have their heads if he found out.
And yet all she could imagine was getting to engage in verbal spars with him all the time, be able to gaze upon his otherworldly beauty with all the right to do so.
Tsukuyomaru felt as if she had been deliberating for forever when she finally spoke and said the one word that would serve to change the rest of their lives.
@inusmasha yes, you're right, you more than earned it. I'll start you off with the basic AU that you'll find for almost every ship out there. The Mob!AU Now before you get on the "oh man not this again," let me explain why this was the first to smack me in the face. Batdad has a very particular job to do. He has a duty to his family, to his people. Mingling with the outsiders isn't allowed or encouraged. Batdad has a whole lot of power and he's the black sheep son in a family of demons very dedicated to what they do. Batdad is Michael Corleone and his ugly dad is a much scarier, less supportive Vito. Now, Shizu comes from a totally different world. The best mob!AUs arise from ships in which a headstrong girl talks to someone very high up in a very aggressive way and he just can't bring himself to be offended. Also, how's this for first meetings??? Shizu enters Batfam territory and is accosted by the mob, only to have their leader's son arrive and fight them off. Maybe he's injured in all of this. Maybe Shizu is a doctor and she can patch him up. Maybe he keeps coming back to see her under the guise of getting his stitches checked out. Just maybe ...
@inusmasha @artistefish I’m so sorry ,, truly I am
He couldn’t be human. His hair shone under the moonlight, his eyes gleamed an unearthly shade of violet in the darkness. Ears that were moulded into elfin tips, long hands topped with sharpened claws - they all spoke to a heritage very different from hers.
And yet she couldn’t help but be inexplicably drawn to him.
The man who had swooped down from the skies to sweep her up into his arms, away from certain death.
He was the BatDad ... and her bat-signal was definitely turned on.
