One thing Steve liked about his barista job was the free drinks and if anyone asked that's what he'd tell them...but another thing he liked was that there was a Waffle House right next door. You might think it was for the food but it was actually for one specific worker; Eddie.
Steve had met Eddie early on in his job. The man came in right at opening, uniform on and long, curly locks tied into a bun with chunks of hair falling loose. Steve was immediately attracted to him and quickly went to the register to take his order, his coworker Robin sideyeing his pace. After he had put in the ridiculously caffeinated drink he wanted to make small talk.
"You about to start your shift?"
"No actually, just getting off," the man had replied.
"Oh! So you work the graveyard shift?" The man nodded as Steve handed him his drink mourning how fast it came out, signalling the end of their chat.
Steve eyed the drink, "When are you planning on sleeping?" The other man laughed and he thought it was an amazing sound, especially at 5 in the morning.
"Not sure," he said with a shrug. "Well, thanks. Have a good shift," he said, smiling and walking out.
After that he started coming back often, always right when Steve got in and the store opened, always at the end of his own shift. Steve learned his name was Eddie and overtime their chats got longer. Either because Robin would do him a solid and take her sweet time making his drink or because Eddie would stand around and chat for a while, drink in hand.
At some point, Eddie's hours got switched around and he started working around the same time as Steve which meant it was harder for him to come in and get a drink. Which led Steve to...finding ways to see him anyway.
Sometimes they would mess up drinks and instead of just throwing those away Steve started walking over to the Waffle House and offering them to the workers. And if he briefly chatted with Eddie that was totally normal!
But that turned into Steve maybe kinda purposely messing up drinks to go over more often. It was becoming obvious, to say the least. It was an ongoing joke with all of Steve's coworkers and he didn't want to imagine if it was one at Waffle House too.
Finally, one day Steve was walking into Eddie's job once again with a 'mess up' drink in hand that was suspiciously close to Eddie's own order.
"Hey, Eds! I have a drink for you."
"Oh, you do, huh?" Eddie asked. He had this tone lately that was either heavy flirting or mocking of Steve's obvious interest. He hoped it was the former.
"Yeah, someone ordered a drink really close to yours and I guess I found myself making yours by mistake. Muscle memory or whatever," he said, handing it to the other man who had a smug smile.
"You know, my coworkers-" he pointed towards his friends, Gareth and Jeff. "think these mess up drinks aren't really mess up drinks."
"Oh?" The jig was up, they were finally going to address the elephant in the room.
"Yeah, they seem to think you're just looking for an excuse to talk to me." Steve was silent, a little embarassingly unsure of what to say as Eddie and his coworkers looked on expectantly.
"But to be fair, I couldn't judge you if you were because I only got coffee after my graveyard shifts to see you." Oh. Steve hadn't even considered that possibility.
"You did?"
"Well, not the first time but every time after? Yeah. Why would I need that much caffeine after staying up all night? It's actually why I had to switch shifts. I was barely getting any sleep." Steve chuckled in disbelief. "So I wouldn't judge you if you were, say, making these drinks just to get to talk to me. In fact, it'd make me really happy," Eddie said, pulling a strand of hair in front of his face, covering a cheesy grin.
"Yeah?" Steve asked, a bit of cockiness seeping into his tone. "Well, that's good because I actually did just make this drink for you. No one is ordering anything close to this monstrosity." Eddie let out a loud, surprised laugh.
"So maybe we should try and talk when neither of us are working? Say, tomorrow night?"
"Yeah, yeah that sounds great. I think if I damaged out any more 'mess up' drinks my boss might fire me...or sue me at this point."
Eddie laughed, "Well we wouldn't want that you're one of the best parts of this job."
Steve smiled wide, "I know exactly what you mean."
Fin!
based off my last job that was a coffee shop next to a waffle house. we did get people coming off night shift buying coffee (we called one batman) and we did give them mess up drinks. i however didn't have a gay romance with any waffle house worker, tragically.
i ship u with calum because you two would make cute children and honestly you'd be the best parents ever pls adopt me (surprise me w a blurb because you're creative bb u can do it!!!!!!!)
this is v accurate.
ship: C | A | L | M
-why: Because yall both have some beautiful ass hair and like you’d just share hair products and complain about how long it takes for you both to get ready but then also you both have incredible voices so like I can just picture either you or luke singing around the house and just like ending up singing some cute ass duet or like trying to harmonize with each other lmao.
friends w benefits: C | A | L | M
lowkey crushin’: C | A | L | M
best friend: C | A | L | M
your “song” together: Mine - Bazzi
Blurb: Going off the random singing together thing I just think like luke would be in the shower or something and like he’d be humming something and you’d also be in the bathroom like brushing your teeth and you’d like stop and start softly singing along to his humming which would end up making him actually sing along with you peaking his head out from behind the shower curtain with his hair still covered in shampoo smiling brightly as he see you rocking out with your toothbrush in your hand like a makeshift microphone and toothpaste suds on the corner of your mouth. ta da! that’s all she wrote.
w/ your ship:
Who wants to cuddle the most: you | him | both
Who sings the most: you | him | both
Who says “I love you” first: you | him | both
Who steals food from the other: you | him | both
Who takes the most sneaky pictures: you | him | both
Who introduces the other to the family first: you | him | both
Hey girl!!! Congratulations on 3K! That's so cool. For your celebration: (idk what to say about myself lol this is hard) I love babies/kids, I'm blonde and have green eyes, and I'm going to be a chef. "Things have changed for me and that's okay, I'm on my way" cause I've been listening to this song all day lol Thanks sweetie, good luck with all the drabbles you're going to write ;)
The small Louisiana diner was never where you thought you’d end up, but here you were, taking orders and spending your days in the thick, Southern heat of the bayou.
“Thanks, have a great day,” you smiled at the family leaving the diner. The place was empty now, as the lunch rush was ending, and you were okay with that.
After you cleared and cleaned the table, you meandered into the kitchen and pushed yourself up on the counter.
“Hungry, love?” Benny asked. “We can close for a bit and feed ourselves.”
“Sounds like a great plan,” you agreed. You went out front to flip the sign on the door to “closed”, then re-joined Benny in the kitchen.
The two of you whipped up something quick and delicious, then chose a booth by the window to eat.
“You sure you’re happy here?” Benny asked.
He knew where you came from and, sometimes, he worried that the life you were living now – the life with him – wasn’t enough.
“Benny,” you smiled, reaching over to squeeze his hand. “Things have changed for me, and that’s okay. I never thought I’d find happiness again, but thank in large part to you, I’m on my way.”
Benny returned the squeeze of your hand and went back to his lunch. Your worry over his worry quickly faded when his concerned frown changed to a contented smile.
Andi, I'm afraid of heights, ticking clocks annoy me, I'm have experienced taking to the dead thru ghost investigations. You know me and my looks and likes. Prompt "you have got to be shitting me right now" thanks
Ashley and Nicole had told you there was a surprise coming your way, but with those two, there was no way of telling if the surprise was going to be something you would actually be excited for, or something humorous. You were more expecting some weirdo in a banana costume singing you happy birthday on your front porch.
You were NOT expecting Jared Padalecki.
The moment you opened your door and realized it was the giant Samsquatch of a man standing there, you could only mutter out one sentence. “You’ve got to be shitting me right now.”
Jared laughed and held out the flowers in his hand. “Look, I know this is a little weird, but I saw your picture in some of the girls’ stuff and they told me about you. I’ve been begging them to set us up, even just once, and they finally did.”
You swallowed hard. “You wanted to meet me?”
“I did,” Jared said with a definitive nod. “And I don’t mean to rush you or anything, but we have reservations in about an …”
Before he could finish his sentence, you were racing upstairs to take a shower.
Congrats Nicole! Can I get in on the shipping party? I’m short with blonde hair and blue eyes. I love reading, and writing (mostly, fantasy sci-fi, and mystery) you can guess I'm a bit of a fangirl. I like listening to music (country and classic rock) I'm more of an introvert but I can be an extrovert and brave, outspoken, opinionated ect if I have to, especially for the things I care about. I love my friends and family fiercely and am loyal. The prompt can be meeting them for the first time.
Another afternoon was wasting away while you studied in the Stanford library. The cute boy with long-ish hair was there again, occasionally stealing glances at you over his law book. You smiled to yourself; he was in all three of your classes this semester but you had yet to figure it his name.
While you did your best to concentrate on the textbook in front of you, another girl sauntered up to the boy, clearly flirting with him. It wasn’t the first time this particular girl had tried to approach him, but you noticed he was always disinterested. Today, in fact, he looked downright miserable.
Working up your courage and hoping you had heard his name correctly in class, you picked up your things and approached his table.
“Sam!” you smiled, leaning down to kiss his cheek. “Sorry, I was so deep in studying, I didn’t even see you come in. I’m glad you waited.”
Sam smiled at you. “No worries, babe. Hey, can I see your notes from last class?”
The other girl was defeated; she flitted away back to her table while you and Sam enjoyed a good laugh together.
“I’m Y/N,” you said, shaking his hand.
“I know,” Sam smiled, not at all eager to let your hand go.

“She was one of those girls who breathed fire but loved so gently, it made you forget she could.”
It wasn’t too often that Dean got to just scroll through random shit on the internet, but right now he was killing time before going to sleep. You were leaned against his shoulder, the soft sounds of your breathing the only noise in the room.
Dean read the quote again, looked at you, and smiled to himself. If that wasn’t you, he didn’t know what was. Your sassy spunk was one of the things that made pursuing you such an appealing chase. Once he had you, it was a whole new adventure.
Setting his phone to the side, Dean gently positioned you against the pillows, then turned off the bedside lamp. He kissed your forehead, pulled you close, and drifted off to a peaceful sleep.
I work in the medical field, I love dogs, and Marvel. :) prompt: kids (not mine) I LOVE YOU CONGRATS ❤❤❤❤
(This is kinda unconventional and I didn't use the prompt because I had a semi-medical-related idea and ran with it 😬Hopefully you still love me after you read it!)
The car crash was terrible. With the mangled metal pinning you inside the vehicle and your car stuck in the ditch, you were, for the first time in a long time, scared for your life.
You managed to get one leg out; it was sore and bruised, but nothing seemed broken. Your other leg was shattered under the weight of the crushed dashboard. You took a deep breath and managed to finagle your mobile phone out of your pocket.
“Eldon,” you breathed into the phone, “I got side-swiped coming home. The other car took off, mine rolled several times and I’m in the ditch.”
“I’m coming to get you.”
He ended the call, but that was okay with you. Every car in the Styne fleet had a locator on it, so you knew your love would find you. With your phone tossed back into the wreckage, you pulled the sharp knife from your waistband and flipped it open. Taking a deep breath, you looked around for something to tie off your leg. With a strip of your favorite shirt now acting as a tourniquet, you got a good grip on your knife and prepared to cut.
Although your tourniquet was more than adequate, you had lost consciousness before finishing the amputation. When you came to, Eldon’s handsome face was looking down at you as he gently lifted you from the car.
“Don’t worry, darlin’,” he assured. “We are gonna get you home and get you right back on two feet.”
I just saw your 3k post! Congrats! If I made the cut for a ship... I am a CMA, a mom, and I'm stubborn and caring. Prompt: a new tattoo?
You rubbed your hands together in excitement as you and John approached the tattoo parlor. You’d had a design in mind for months now, but your busy schedule of work and kiddos kept you from making the appointment.
Today was your birthday and not only had John arranged for dependable childcare, he was paying for you to finally get the tattoo that had been on your mind for so long.
“Ready, sweetheart?” John asked, holding his hand out to you.
“Been ready,” you replied, excitement evident in your voice.
John stood by and watched the whole time, held your hand when you needed it, and beamed over how amazing the tattoo looked when it was finished.
“Are you happy?” he asked as he opened the car door for you.
“Completely.” You went up on tiptoe to kiss him, not quite sure how you had lucked out in finding such an amazing man.
