𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗙𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿: Notice how boats are referred to as "she"? That’s because there seems to be a deep history with regards to their female names! Sure, not all boats have a female name, but many of them do, and it is thought to help deepen the sailors' bond with the boat! 𝟮. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘅𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹: If you are new to sailing, you might not be familiar with many of the acronyms that precede a boat’s name which actually indicate what kind of vessel it is. For example, 𝗦𝗦 is a prefix that stands for 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿 (the ship is driven by propellors or "screws"; 𝗧𝗕 - 𝗧𝘂𝗴 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝘁. 𝗠𝗦 - 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗥𝗠𝗦 - 𝗥𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗛𝗠𝗦 - 𝗛𝗶𝘀/𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆'𝘀 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗦𝗩 - 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗩𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹 etc. If you plan on using a prefix, just be sure it makes sense for the kind of boat you have. __________________________ The 𝗦. Fire in the Sky and another caught Ship

Fire in the Sky and another caught Ship

I woke up this morning to see another huge ship caught in the fire of the Sunrise. I know it wasn’t actually caught but I have a thing at the moment about them being silhouetted by the beautiful orange sky. There was one  on Monday, but this one was even bigger!

I think I freaked out my better half as I came flying out of the door onto the patio in my dressing gown to take a photo before it…
