Temple Maiden || Ariel & Eric
Everything just seemed a blur to her. In fact that evening had gone so quickly, that Ariel had scarcely had time to think as she arrived to shore to meet him. But things had to be fast if they hoped to evade not only her father, but his subjects. The instant she was back on the shore where they'd met he was quick to escort her deeper into his kingdom. A part of her hated the secrecy. She had little tolerance for secrets and lies, but like her father. But Triton abhorred humans, and was clear in their last altercation that he would much rather see her dead than to see her become the wife to a fish eater. The way he yelled at her, the way he spoke of them, it was enough to cause her skin to pimple at the mere memory. And as for keeping her origins secret from Eric's people, they weren't so sure they would keep mum on the fact that they had a mermaid for a queen. And therefore, they had to be in the dark as to who she was as well. She followed Eric through the streets, her hand clasped in his as they continued on. But as they neared his home and the castle came into view she began to tug him back. "Eric - Eric, hold on." She stopped in her tracks, refusing to trek any further in spite of the fact they need to get to the castle before sundown. If she hadn't had any second thoughts about their plan, she certainly did now. They'd agreed to pass her off as a human. But how to go about explaining her existence - or even better how to explain Eric's sudden decision to wed her, was not something either of them considered in their haste. She could sense his urgency as he turned to insist that they keep going, but she cut him off before he could get a word in about how the servants expected him in bed. Not trying to sneak through the halls at such a late hour with a mermaid in tow. "How exactly are we going to explain me?"
