Masuyo is startled. He hadn’t even noticed he’d been standing under the mistletoe. 

He places a hand on his cheek and blushes, staring at Shishiou. “Sh-Shishiou-san? What was that for?”

Tsurumaru replied to the irritated Shishiou was laying low on the coach. “Its one of those times again.” Indeed, life as a mercenary was never easy, as it made the crane a prime target for other mercenaries who don’t like what he’s doing, or were sent by people who also don’t like what he’s doing. During times like this, Tsuru would break into his neighbour Shishi’s house in order to hide in there, regardless if the other liked it or not. “Did you see anyone at my door?”

Whiiiine, he doesn’t want to do field work. He always gets dirty. 

But the saniwa had ordered him to do it, and he couldn’t disobey his master’s orders, so he was just going to have to deal with it, wasn’t he? Ugh.

He sighed tiredly, even though they hadn’t even started working yet and glanced at his partner for field duty for the day. “So, what are we supposed to be doing with the fields today again?” He hoped it wasn’t adding more fertilizer. Since this was Shishiou and not Namuzou it wouldn’t be as bad as it could be otherwise, bit it was still gross.

Masuyo honestly hadn’t meant to sneak up on Shishiou like that. He’d simply noticed that the lion had seemed a little tense and had wanted to help, so he’d acted without thinking. It hadn’t occurred to him until after Shishiou tensed a bit that he’d been rude not to ask first, but when there was no objection and the tachi had relaxed again he’d kept going. 

He smiled when Shishiou thanked him afterward, pleased that his efforts had been appreciated and that the other felt better. He’s a little startled when Shishiou offers to return the favor, however.

“Eh? Sure, if you really want to.” He wasn’t sure whether he needed one right now, but it wouldn’t hurt.
