[thatwasdark @ miranda] “ i don’t care where i am, i just don’t want to be here. “

Miranda hums, not thoughtfully, but in acknowledgement as she stirs her tea.
“-- I often find that we begrudge our environment rather more than it deserves. It desires our presence just as much or little as we do, after all. We feel driven, compelled to believe that we may find impermanence in where we are, that our environment, our location is of our own making, but the truth of the matter is that while people come and go, and buildings are raised and felled, the ground beneath us very rarely wavers. We might one day not be where we are now, but where we are will remain.
“-- I suppose what I’m trying to say is that we will always be where we are. If you try to run from that, you’re likely to find yourself back where you started.” She smiles, softly. “-- Metaphorically speaking, of course. There are places to which one can never return. It’s a funny thing, though. The more desperate you are to leave, and the more you long to stay, the more the place stays with you.”
