It's the start of @ygorarepairweek and the prompt I've gone with for Day 1 is 'Sweet'!
While I was originally going to have this based around cake, while I was searching for outfit inspiration I just happened to come across Sweet Lolita fashion and I thought it'd be super cute if they were trying on different outfits instead. Oh and to keep the 'Dessert' part of the theme, Sorahas little candies stitched into the side of his pants :3
Of course, with Jubilantshipping being my ultimate OTP, I just had to include Musicboxshipping. Honestly, with how much screentime these two share together, I'm a little suprised that they're as rare of a pair as they are.
This one's gonna be shorter than usual, doubt I will even send it on Ao3. You can consider it still related to A Blossoming Legato, but not by much.
Anyway, here's...
Saltando of Swapping
Featuring: All kinds of Standard Characters, but mainly You Show ones.
Comments and Criticisms are appreciated as always!
It was an average day at the You Show Duel School, which ended on some talk about Action Card collections in each Action Field, in a way knowing in advance which types of Action Cards or Traps one might expect. It was fairly boring for the active spirits of the You Show students, but needed after indoor exercises of catching Cards with their mouths. However, a certain surprise appearance livened up this classroom. Yusho Sakaki, still with a cane to hold himself with but less weary, had appeared in front of the students and beside Shuzo via magic tricks from Solid Vision, and brought an important announcement with him.
“An event will be held all over Maiami City! The “Maiami Action Mashup!”
“Maiami Action… Mashup?” Shuzo responded amidst the confusion, telling that not even he was in the know of what Yusho announced, and was about to explain.
“Exactly! This event will be a huge exchange program for all schools in Maiami City! It’s no secret that I was away for these past years… And it’s obvious that all the Schools, and their forms of Action Dueling, have grown immensely! So why not instill exchanges from ALL the Schools? You of the You Show School, as well as the others, will get to experience all kinds of Action Duels and what they bring to the table!”
“Honestly, this sounds fantastic!” Yuzu was the first to respond, and was quite enthusiastic.
“I didn’t see much potential in most, honestly… But it would be fun to see how they’ve improved!” Sora was next to talk, not without receiving some light backlash.
“Oh come on! It’s all for fun!” Tatsuya admonished Sora lightly.
“We’ll get to meet so many, I’m so excited!” Ayu gushed.
“Seeing all the styles gives me shivers! Especially with what we’ve seen at the Maiami Championship!” Futoshi added, and Yuya was the last to talk.
“This is great, Dad! But… Is this your idea? Are you up to it? You’re still recovering…”
“Ah, soon enough I’ll just have to swing into action again after so long, Yuya!” Yusho charmingly responded. “But now… I want to see what Maiami City really has to offer first! After all that happened led to the cancellation of the Junior Youth division… Miami just needs some Action to recover too! Don’t you agree?”
“Absolutely, Dad!” Yuya pumped his fist, goaded by Yusho’s words. “And we of You Show will show them the best Entertainment Dueling!”
“Hmm… How about we try to learn more with it?” Yuzu proposed. “After all, You Show is about being one with your Monsters, right? I think that can apply with the other Schools somewhat. I could probably learn something neat at the Duelie Club, for example!”
“Both of your approaches are more than valid! After all, it’s called “exchange” for a reason, right?” Yusho approached the comments warmly, and Shuzo brought some fire of his own.
“Awesome idea, Yusho! This’ll put fire in everyone’s hearts! And we definitely need to reignite Maiami City as the City of Action Dueling!”
“Well said, old friend!” Yusho then asked: “Now… Are you ready for the Maiami Action Mashup!?”
Yusho’s proposal was caught with a roar by everyone, and they all were to prepare for the incoming days of this exchange program. While everyone else had gone home, Yuzu decided to help her Dad out, saluting all her friends for a bright tomorrow.
“So, Dad… You didn’t know about this?”
“Nope. But he must have been in accordance with Reiji Akaba to get such an idea out. It will surely be exciting!”
“I think so too!” Yuzu then pulled out her Deck with a smile.
“You’re calling your friend, aren’t you?” Her Dad asked, and the pinkette responded.
“Oh yeah! I’ll talk to her while I’m cleaning the corridors. You’ll go to the office, after all.”
“I’m sure she’ll enjoy this too!”
After two taps on the Card, indeed Bloom Diva came back to Yuzu.
“Good evening! How was today’s class?”
“Fairly normal, Bloom Diva… Except for the ending!”
And with that, Bloom Diva came to know of the Maiami Action Mashup. This has greatly interested her as well, and neither could wait to see what the event days will bring…
And indeed, they brought many, many things. Many visits, many encounters, new and old, and many styles to follow, for all kinds of scenarios.
…
First off, Yuya and Yuzu threaded familiar ground by uniting with their friend Gongenzaka at his father’s dojo. As kind of a basics lesson, the students meditated on the ground, under the guidance of Mr. Gongenzaka himself.
“Meditation is essential in non-action. No thoughts in your mind means no thoughts come to your muscles, telling them to move! This is pure discipline, and no instinct!”
Gongenzaka, being a natural, stood with firmness and fortitude in complete silence… And Big Benkei followed him in kind. His father was naturally impressed, but hadn’t much to say. He was more focused on his friends. First Yuzu, who stood on her knees in complete peace, putting her hands over them, and Bloom Diva followed her, only the knees came to the edge of her platform.
“Hm… Nice form, Hiiragi Yuzu. And nice balance, Miss… Bloom Diva… But the stances need more firmness, to not be shaken off easily!” Mr. Gongenzaka, after saying that, went to Yuya… Who tried to do the same as his peers, but his legs were shaking after a while, and he almost lost his balance and slipped on his side, only to have Odd-Eyes catch his fall and put him back into position. He… Also struggled to meditate, but not as hard.
“Your friendship and trust does compensate for the lack of stability.” After that, Mr. Gongenzaka went off as Yuya almost slipped another time, maybe due to the criticisms.
…
Meanwhile, the Fishing Duelist and Maiami Championship participant Teppei Tairobata was hosting a lesson of his own in the Blue Sea Duel School, having graduated from there, and was about to do a demonstration in a Yacht Action Field surrounded by sea.
“To catch the biggest haul, first you need the technique to catch any haul! Slow and steady, with great patience, you’ll get even the toughest, meanest creatures out there! Now, with the right technique, and stroke… HAAH!”
And from the Solid Vision water, a familiar fishie to You Show popped right out of the water and jumped to Teppei, who destroyed the hook and showed the fish triumphantly, that being a smiling Aquaactress Guppy.
“Treasure any opportunity, any chance you get! Smaller encounters won’t drag you down, they will only build up for the big haul!” And then, he tossed Guppy to the sea while casting his lure once more, to soon find a much heavier haul to pull up. Incredibly excited, he gave it his all to finally pull out… A weird hunk of metal with orbs and lines, greatly angering him off.
“Ok, whoever did this… THIS ISN’T FUNNY!”
But it was very funny for Ayu and Reira, who greatly enjoyed pulling the prank, albeit Reira was much more shy about it.
…
Gongenzaka himself then went to another Dojo which few dared to enter: the Ryozanpaku School, which teaches his students to win by any means necessary. Here, Big Benkei and Idaten the Conqueror star were having a sparring match, alongside Gongenzaka and Kachidoki, who fought separately. This was actually somewhat organized, however, as no dirty tricks were pulled. The martial artist simply used his technique to spar, and while he went fairly hard, Gongenzaka was an iron wall, and thus incredibly hard to bring down. No low blows, sweeps or any tricks from the Ryozanpaku prodigy, just a surprisingly clean sparring match which ended in Gongenzaka pushing Kachidoki fiercely away without ever truly hitting him, and Big Benkei doing the same to Idaten. After that, they both would share a bow between themselves, as well as Mr. Ryozanpaku. Despite all that happened, and all that reputation, no grudges were held anywhere. It was simply a clean, decided match which led to Kachidoki simply training differently.
…
Yuzu decided to visit the Cuisine Duel School next, and dueled with its representative and top student, Michio Mokota, who she didn’t know much besides him being that boy Yoko gushed over that one time. She had Summoned Canon as a certain Royal Cookpal, Prince Curry, was waiting for her.
“Well, I guess I can show off a real appetizer!” Michiyo proudly declared. “I activate Prince Curry’s effect!”
That effect was created by the Cookpal, essentially a giant bowl of curry with a plate of rice, serving one of these plates to Canon herself.
“Hm… I can’t help but feel something’s up with this, but whatever.” She then started eating the curry somewhat delicately. “Hey, this isn’t half bad!”
“Oh no, Yuzu!” Tatsuya yelled as Yuzu was fairly confused by this scenario. “You have to stop it somehow! Its effect will make Canon eat too much and grow big and be destroyed!”
Yuzu and Bloom Diva were horrified by the prospect, as Tatsuya indicated that by widely opening his arms, meaning that Canon could grow that much. As a mountain of curry with rice was in front of the Masked Diva, she too grew disgusted.
“No.”
And in protest for such a fate, Canon simply splatted the plate of curry she had on her face to destroy herself, much to the bafflement of all watching, including Bloom Diva.
“I… Believe that was for the best. Yet, what a bust…”
…
Sora was in the Knights of Duels School, in an Action Field that depicted a medieval castle siege in which many Duelists were fighting. He fought against a golden plated student known as Chalac, and had soundly beaten him thanks to his Frightfur Tiger’s effect devastating his Field. Unimpressed, Sora found three other Knights jump on him.
“Tch… You guys are annoying.”
“I agree! It’s time for some payback!” A certain brunette who seemed to have beef with these people joined him, Lady Brilliant Diamond and Lady Rose Diamond, as well as other Gem-knights under their command, accompanied her.
“Masumi?” Sora asked. “What do you even mean by payback?”
“I’ll just say these guys were a pain in the neck against our friend Kurosaki.” The brunette responded. “So I’ll help you for the time being, since you at least made amends. But after this, we’re dueling!”
Sora swapped his usual green sucker for a blue one and became excited at the prospect.
“I’m sure it’ll be more fun than fighting them!”
…
Yuzu was one to explore a lot, leading to her eventually meeting Mikiyo at the Duelie Club’s main hall, and the Melodious all sang perfectly to complement the lively songs that were kings at the Idol Duelist’s school. Her Wingweaver joined in the singing, while two Freyas, Spirits of Victory, were rhythmically cheering them all on, synchronizing with Tamtam’s beat.
“AAH! THIS IS SO PERFECT!” Mikiyo gushed upon hearing of the work both her and Yuzu’s Monsters created. “They’re all so in sync, and look at the crowd! They’re all ecstatic!”
“We both want to appease our fans, right?” Yuzu winked, clearly full of energy. “So we’re united in that! And unity creates harmony for even greater songs!”
“And better songs are the key for more pumped up fans!” Mikiyo then waved at the crowd enthusiastically. “EVERYONE! NOW WE’LL DAZZLE YOU WITH OUR SHOW-STOPPING FINALE!”
…
“What the future will bring to you… Is smiles and good friends!” Yuya attempted to perform some divination rituals of his own at the Unno Divination School. While they were fairly basic, he had quite his way with Cards, especially ones that can bring happiness. He showed the divination to Unno Naruko, the principal, and she was somewhat interested.
“Divination is an art that few can truly possess… It is clear that your specialty is not to predict brighter futures… But create them. This… I foresee in you.” The principal indicated a certain Card that Yuya went to inspect closer, all while someone must have jumped behind him as there was a loud crash shortly after, which the boy didn’t notice.
“I… Create bright futures? Wait, am I no longer cursed?”
“You are right, Yuya.” Unno responded. “The darkness of the past that weighed you is gone… Or perhaps has changed. Perhaps it has turned into an opportunity that you must seize…
…
But it all had to end at You Show School, with a great number conducted from Yusho, Yuya, Shuzo, and Yuzu all together as all the spectators watched and learned. This was more than a performance for them all, this was all a festival. A festival of Action Dueling that is looking to be more thriving than ever. A festival that would return people’s smiles and brighten their futures after the war that weighed even the relatively safe Standard Dimension.
All that enriched the journey, and all that enriched the Dimensions, it came from Standard. The Action Duels, the Solid Vision, and everything they brought, good or bad, had come from there to the other Dimensions in one way or another. Standard proved ultimately fundamental to the other Dimensions, as Effect Monsters proved fundamental to all Extra Deck strategies. And as such, it was only fitting for Yusho to initiate this Maiami City Mashup. Because ultimately, that’s what all of Standard is about.
