Was rewatching danmaca the other day and was thinking about the possibility of doing a Konoe/Kuon fic, but... I feel like, even if it's certainly possible for that happen in all their isolated time together, it would probably be INCREDIBLY bittersweet.

Like, I think Kuon would, even if he felt that way and their feelings were mutual, would only feel guilty about the concept of him having even a sliver of happiness while Kabane spends an eternity miserable because of him. He'd never be able to allow himself for real.

And I feel like Konoe would also feel guilty too since he is extremely loyal to Kabane. Like he'd probably be more likely to want to talk to him about it, but also, it would have the potential to make his relationship with Kuon even worse and what would Konoe do if Kabane even stopped speaking to him too?

And then only in those last moments together they spent before they were finally able to die would they, perhaps, feel that sudden urge for something more that they suddenly had no time to satisfy.

That final scene would probably be so hauntingly beautiful tho... Maybe they could embrace one last time and a wish through finally shed tears that whatever afterlife or rebirth awaited them that they could somehow meet again.
