Hey what do you think of Akane's relationship with Shizuo?? Sorry if that was asked before

I adore it!

I’ve talked about how I view Shizuo’s feelings/relationship with Akane before over here. (it’s kind of long)

But here is how I view them in a shippy way (imma quote this old post)

But on the other hand there is Akane. Akane whose reason for training now is to ensure that she can become strong enough to protect Shizuo. She wants to become strong enough to make sure Shizuo never has to fight again. She wants to take care of Shizuo and it’s clear that they both mean alot to each other. I love to play around with the idea of Akane getting older and becoming head of the awakusu and Shizuo being her bodyguard in name while in actuality she does most of the fighting cause she doesn’t want Shizuo fighting anymore. Akane is also a sweet girl. An accepting girl and an understanding girl. She is someone who can more easily return Shizuo’s love and affections while with Vorona it’s more of a learning thing. But with Akane she is much too young for Shizuo. She needs to grow several years first before the relationship can grow and who knows by the time she grows up if she’ll find someone else or if Shizuo will have fallen completely for Vorona.

So basically I love Shizukan in both a canon sense and in a shippy sense. (I MEAN THERE’S SO MUCH EVIDENCE THAT AKANE HAS A GIANT CRUSH ON SHIZUO) But shippy she needs to grow a few years. I kind of imagine them in an ‘Emma’ by Jane Austen Au kind of thing. 

For those unfamiliar, here is Emma’s opening line:

Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever, and rich, with a comfortable home and happy disposition, seemed to unite some of the best blessings of existence; and had lived nearly twenty-one years in the world with very little to distress or vex her.

The story then continues with Emma playing matchmaker and then getting into all sorts of trouble especially when she realizes that the man who had helped to practically raise her, Mr. Knightley, might fall in love with another person. It is then that Emma realizes that she loves Mr. Knightley who is 16-17 years her senior and the story ends happily cause surprise Mr. Knightley loves her as well. 

So this is what I see with Shizuo and Akane in a shippy sense. Up until this point Akane has lived a life with nothing to vex her. But now her life will have nothing but trouble and all through it she will have Shizuo there to support her. Then once she hits around 21 years of age she will realize she really and truly loves Shizuo heiwajima and cannot stand the thought of him with another woman leading into her confession and their eventual ‘dating’.

What are your thoughts on Shizuo's feeling for Akane? Can you please tell us some?! Thank you!

SHIZUO ADORES AKANE

I think it’s all rooted in the fact that Akane isn’t exactly scared of Shizuo. I mean she is but she doesn’t let that fear hold her back,especially in the beginning when she thinks he is out to kill her family. 

But just like Vorona and Celty Akane plays such an important role in Shizuo’s development. 

Because Akane, to Shizuo, is someone who he desperately wants to protect. She is someone that he sees as worth protecting and taking care of. This, I think, is because she isn’t scared of him, she fights for the people she loves despite her own weakness, and she faces him/her problems head on. 

So she becomes someone worth protecting to Shizuo. And because she is worth protecting she then becomes someone who gives him a strong MOTIVE for learning control over his strength so as to prevent her from getting hurt or scared due to him. Which is why Shizuo begins to really learn how to ‘ignore’ his anger in favor of taking care of/protecting akane back during the kidnapping arc. 

There is no one else who can ‘play’ this role for Shizuo. 

Both Celty and Vorona are too strong to need protecting and neither would accept his help in such a way. But Akane, at least in the beginning, is perfect. She is a child exposed to the cruelty of the world around her and he was able to protect her from it. He was able to take her away from that cruelty, able to smile at her, and was able to make her happy again. She is the only one who could have given him such a strong motive for control. 

Then to make matters 100x worse, because of how he protects her, Akane now wants to get stronger to protect Shizuo ;;;; He doesn’t really know it yet but Akane wants to get stronger through martial arts so as to protect shizuo from ever needing to fight again and if that isn’t the most precious thing in the whole damn world idk what is.

Obviously the humorous route is just Akane and Vorona trying to one up each other and Shizuo not noticing a damn thing. Like he appreciates the attention even if he isn't used to it but the crush thing flies over his head at a million miles an hour. Tom is torn between giving him a heads up or just sitting back and waiting it out.

Tom is the third wheel no matter where he goes he starts to wonder if he jynxed shizuo by telling him he should get a girlfriend soon.

Akane has the leg up on vorona though because she can cling to shizuos arms and hold his hands and sit on his shoulders or lay on him and get away with it

yo just imagine Akane's crush getting bigger and bigger as time goes on and as she enters dating age these guys want this cool pretty-but-tough girl and she just looks at their hopeful faces and goes "HAHAHAHAHA No." Others ask why she never seems interested in boys but she never really tells anyone she's in a subtle civil pissing contest with Vorona over Shizuo's attention

AW MAN 

AWWWWW MAN i was thinking about how bad it'd get if the two of them ever begin to act on their feelings and want to get the other outof the picture. I mean even with her training vorona could easily kick akane's ass if akane confronts vorona (i dont see vorona confronting her since shes changing in a more positive way) but akANE HAS THE AWAKUSU TO BACK HER UP this could just go bad for both of them fast and shizuos stuck in the middle not knowing whats going on. 

But hopefully akane makes her moves on shizuo before it gets to that and she tries to dress more mature cause she knows he likes older women and shes always trying to touch him and hold his hands and be sweet on him and sit on his lap and kiss him playfully and cries.

You're killing me with all this glorious Akane talk. Personally one of my favorite things ever is the thought of everyone in Ikebukuro forever being confused as shit that this fearless little girl can walk right up to Shizuo Heiwajima and play around with him or hold long conversations. It's adorable and slightly frightening.

I FEEL BAD THAT IM GOING TO BED SOON (got work tmr)

The twins ability to mess around with Shizuo is impressive enough. But akane is even younger and cuter and more innocent looking and she can cling to shizuos arm without him shaking her off and they go eat sweets together if they run into each other or talk about trivial things and they both obvs care for each other and she can make him smile easily and be close to him so everyone gets weirded out by it and shell tell him about school and he tries to be a good adult figure and give her advice on classes and stuff but its just advice that kasuka or celty told to him so she teases him for it ;;;;;;;;;

Adorable but slightly frightening is pretty much the perfect description for Akane tbh. 

I love how in SH she defends him and the things people say about him (and celty) ardently. She won’t allow smack talk.
