Well, what could that be? A bunch of eyes, many, many teeth, otherwise quite amorphous? Yep its a Shoggoth! As we have come back to my Call of Cthulhu campaign I thought that I would show you some of my latest monsters.
This mini, by the way, was made by “Reaper Miniatures” (https://www.reapermini.com) and is part of the lauded “Reaper Bones” collection. I think that that mini cost something like 4.99 or at least in that price range. So it is rather affordable. But I have to warn you: Painting all those eyes and teeth is a pretty daunting task that takes a lot more time than you would like.
Anyway the first time I brought this Shoogy to bear it nearly wiped my whole party. That was mostly due to the fact that just taking one look at my many eyed monstrosity caused 2 of my 5 investigators to go crazy and not take part in the resulting battle at all. The remaining three managed to kill the Shoggy but only because I had severly tuned him down before the battle started. A full grown Shoggoth can wipe any group easily so I rather gave them a “young” half grown Shoggoth and still they barely managed to survive.
After that my players started to get really paranoid about sending their investigators into dark buildings. :-)
