You would LOVE Miles Morales’ original comics. They’re about how he more or less sacrifices his innocence time and time again to uphold that of others, and the informed choice he makes to engage the world’s uncertainties as Spider-Man—the whole number is very…Man of Steel-esque. Trust me.

Have you cracked open Miles’ Ultimate run recently?

I know it’s been a while I’m just curious

Hi! Actually, I'm a little sad to say I haven't. I was reading it pretty faithfully, but it was on a pretty quiet discord server and it tends to be difficult for me to get motivated to finish things without like.. I dunno, a specific goal or point? Besides "I want to read Miles stuff", obviously.

I think the main difficulty for me is that I really don't enjoy Earth-1610. Like, my familiarity with it is pretty much all negative. Obviously, this is not Miles' fault, I know that's the universe he's from and that he's in and it's fine, it's fine that he's there. It's great, even! But combined with Bendis' writing style (which is not like.. my least favorite? but definitely far from my favorite) it makes reading it just for me not the most enjoyable thing.

I think if I had a community or knew more people who were into Miles' comics and would be interested in watching my journey, that would probably help. It's how I got through the latest Venom run even when it felt like I was chewing glass.

And Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man isn't like that! I did genuinely enjoy a lot of what I read so far! I almost felt bad when I picked up the Ziglar run and got into it so fast, because I know you've said it's not really your cup of tea... but I just need to give the Bendis stuff another try, I think.

On that note, if you (or anyone else reading this) knows if there are any Miles-centric discord servers or whatever around, could you like... let me know? I need reading buddies to motivate me to get back to this!

For a long time I actually had no idea Ultimate Cap was such a dick because my primary exposure to him (and the rest of the Ultimate universe) was through the Ultimate Spider-Man comics where his interactions with Miles are like, his least aggressive and most paternal…ever. And that’s why nowadays I like thinking that mentoring him more closely would’ve shifted him into someone closer to his 616 counterpart

Hi! I haven't read Miles' comics (not all of them) but I do know that Ults Steve becomes a mentor to him... and it's interesting how [puts on tinfoil hat] they took thay idea and in the mcu they turned it into Tony mentoring Peter? At least it appears that way to me.

Which really sucks because for all of Ults' faults it's a shitty thing to take elements of those characters and paste them onto Tony and Peter. It's especially unfair to Miles to take his characteristics that separate him from Peter Parker's Spider-Man and just give them to this new version of Peter.

Anyway, I like the idea that Ults Steve could become someone better and nicer by exposure to Miles :) 616 Steve is my favourite so that'd be the goal in my mind lol! No one is immune to Miles Morales!

....main complaint of the Zeb run seems to be that Peter isn't a boring picket fence husband with his stay at home mom-wife MJ and their child in Queens maybe editorial wasn't completely wrong to keep them separate 😭

Until a writer can give petermj actual chemistry again and not the shallow and/or boring scenes they've been given for the last decade I simply do not want them to get back together!

Your Cyjinx fic is amazing. The dialogue and characterization is just so on point. Like I love how vulnerable Vic is about his cybernetics and how interesting his relationship with Jinx is. They're sharing this intimate time with one another and yet they're both playing casual

Yes, you have their current dynamic pegged. They’re both testing the waters, but expect them to grow closer in the next chapter, which will be posted on Sunday. There’s also plenty more to come about Vic and his battle with self-image. I have 13 chapters total written and big plans for these two!
